Hey All, I installed a Micron exhaust kit on an 08 XB12R. After installation i put it through the learning mode (3500 RPM for 10-15 minutes from what I was told) and everything seemed to run fine initially. Now that I'm puttering it around town a bit, I'm noticing what I would describe as a lean spot at 2300 RPM through to 2800 RPM. If i pin the gas, it moves sluggishly through this RPM range. Also, if im holding a constant speed anywhere in this range, I can feel the bike lurch like its missing every once and a while. I have a TFI unit that is supposed to work on an 08, but it seems to do nothing to help solve the issue despite how much i play with the settings. Above and below this range, the bike runs strong and has enough power to run the front tire off the ground with little effort from me. Does anyone know what might be causing this dead spot in the RPM range? Is it really running lean just in this area? I'm planning on pulling the plugs to see if they've fouled today, but I would think a fouled plug would affect all RPM's (I could be wrong on that one though). Anyone have any other ideas? If i cant find any solution to this im probably going to pull everything and go back to stock this weekend. Any advice/ideas are appreciated. |

The standard exhaust has the interactive valve to correct the hole in the torque caused by a single volume/backpressure exhaust. Perhaps Al at American Sport Bike might be able to help you with a map change depending on which version of the 08 model you have. |

i dont know if its the same but i had a TFI on my old 2003 firebolt. i dont know what the TFI did to the bike but i killed my whole fuel injection system.the bike spent more then a month at the harley dealership and the tech's never could figure it out. i ended up selling the bike and buying a 2008. im never using TFI agian. have you been having this problem sence you put the TFI on? |

i have a stock 08 firebolt and i have this problem too. someone told me to go and have harley re-set the ecm because there was a gliche when they first came out. i havent done this yet but maybe it has something to do with that. does the tfi unit replace the ecm or does it make it "smarter" i have never dealt with that before. |
