Here are a couple of pics of the new Beneli 450 motocrosser, which will probably be released in 2008. Sharp styling and neat underseat exhaust similar to the Aprilia SXV. The engine is completely new and designed in house at Benelli. It features electric start and apparently puts out in the region of 55bhp in stock form.
Another bike that will be a direct competitor should Buell decide to enter this market, and now that Benelli have wads of chinese cash behind them their reliability and spares backup should be a lot better.

Right, now that Benelli has the Chinese behind them their reliability will get better!? What decade would that be? Not this one!

I don't think it matters who's cash it is, just that the money is there to back up the company and produce some more spare parts than we have become (un)accustomed to from Benelli.

The Benelli Tre-K already gets far better reviews than the XB12X in most of the magazines that I have read, and the rest of the range is looking a lot better recently too.

People may scoff at Chinese involvement, but they will be a mighty force in world motorcycle manufacturing sooner than many people think.

The same kind of jibes were made by the British bike industry when the Japanese first started exporting their spindly pressed steel spine framed two strokes back in the '50's, and we all know what happened there.

They are the $$ that saved them and all of the parts are still made in Italy.

If you don't want Chinese steel I guess you better research your next car purchase, a good number of them are made with it. All of the Dodge truck frames are made there.

China is the largest producer/consumer of steel in the world so I guess you'd better get used to it.

its the EPA, their lawyers, energy costs, environmental wackos have made it too expensive to do steel, aluminum or chrome here. Check your parts label the next time you buy something shiny for the ride in your garage. Chances are , it aint from here
