thanks reepicheep I have been having a hard time navigating through this site but am getting the hang of it! lots of info,Took my first trip from wpg heading west to give my 08 uly a test in the mountains and only made it to swift current sask..A fellow named douglas told me to have a spare belt!dohh!belt broke leaving timmy hortons in swift current.I called Harley of Calgary where the bike was bought and was told it could be up to 12 weeks to order 1! I ordered 2 from the good people at American Sport Bike, thank you al and joanne for helping me out,i ride better than I drive this lap top!Changed the belt and noticed play in the back wheel.21000 km.when I bought the bike, belt and bearings were original.24000 now with new belt, rear wheel bearings and getting ready to head for the mountains again.I rode a 1983 xlx sportster since 85 and this uly is what I wanted from my sportster!wow Got a cheap throttle lock, lots of straight hiway between me and the mountains lol I need to flash the ecm for a comfort kit,is there anyone close to Winnipeg that can do that for me?Great site keep up the good work and watch for roconroad !

Hi All;
Bought a '96 S2 off EBay up in Wisconsin. Hoping to fly up there in late Sept and ride it out to Oregon to visit friends and then back to Arizona.
Bike has 16K, well cared for, miles. Looks like new. Lots of common sense mods.
I've been reading Don Casto's Buell Pages on the S2 and picking up some bits and pieces so as not to have a trip ending problem. Any advice would be appreciated. I basically have taken the info from his pages and rated them catastrophic---must be dealt with; Serious after big mileage/heavy abuse; and minor, to be dealt with at a later time if at all. I'm acquiring bits for the 1st category.
Question: are the PM wheels on this bike suitable for tubeless radials?
Thanks, cheers, Frank

ello thumpers.... bought a 2000 blast in the middle of oregon, rode it till, to much oil coming out of the blow by... ex- owner stripped airbox out, so breather would spew out oil everywhere. just realized muffler weld was done on bike, and slag is on a small metal tube from the front pump... i guess i need to make sure there is flow? in the process of a mod-frankenstien muffler job, glad i noticed the slag. made a catchcan for the blow by excess.. and it has new michelins that only one shop had in medford. ironicly while the tires were being switched a mag had a great review of the tires about wet surfaces... i normally ride a mid dual cross tread- metzers because i live in humboldt county riddled with gravel... will post some pic's soon...thump on..

This account belonged to Charles Williams, my father. He passed away (peacefully) at 4am Tuesday morning (9/22/15) after a relatively brief struggle with Multiple Myeloma. He died from a combination of pneumonia and a staph infection, brought on by a weakened immune system as a result of chemo and radiation therapy.

He spent a great deal of time on this board, and knew many of you. For those of you that considered him a friend, I am sorry for your loss as well.

Hello All,

This is Rich and Chandra from Frederick County Maryland. Rich has been riding over 40 years. Chandra just got her license. Picked up a Blast last summer. My husband, Rich, has taken it on as a project and done several recommended upgrades. It reminds him of his old B50 with a lot better brakes. If any of you are in the area drop us a note. We want to start a Bike Night at the local Walmart or maybe Wegman's of RT26.

Howdy all!
Figured it was about time I dropped a line in here since I've been reading posts from here for at least the past 5 years, possibly longer.
Names Nick, I'm 22 and fresh out of college (CompSci major and MechE minor from UofRochester, Meliora!) and from reading the amount of know-how on this sight I'm betting that makes me one of the youngest readers (sorry if you suddenly feel older, go for a ride, you'll feel better).

I'm still looking for job in the Seattle area and read articles about Buell XBs to stave off burn-out as I'm hoping to purchase a Buell XB12 (or enough spare parts to build one as I'm pretty handy) as soon as I find work and have a nice security fund built up. Long story short, I'm pretty sure a Buell XB12 is the best bike for me and what matters to me (torque, nimbleness, badass noise, ease of maintenance and repairs, and MPG), and I don't see that changing so this bike gonna be with me for awhile.

While I'm here, I might mention that since I can't go to a dealer and ride one, I'm struggling to figure out what version would fit me... I'm 5'11" w/ 31" inseam, so a little short in the legs and long in the torso.
I like the idea of the long travel suspension on the uly and ss since I do like to get off the beaten path but fit is more important, anyone weigh in on fit?

So sum up is, shout out to the Seattle group, hopefully you'll have a new active member soon! and anyone with a ~31" inseam and/or ~40" torso (71"hgth - 31" inseam) want to weigh in on whats comfy for them?

Looking to buy an 1125R. What do I need to inspect on this bike?
What are the Death-Knell parts?

I went to my local Harley dealer and they said that they do not know what engine critical parts are Buell only.

That was a good year. Keep an eye on the normal stuff... bearings, wiring chafe points, primary chain tension. Do the fluid changes at the recommended intervals, follow the service manual to the letter when removing the wheels.

New to the forum, from Pittsburgh PA. I've used the forum for years(used to have an xb9s), but just recently started actually posting in the old school buell forum. I've been wanting an S1 for probably about 15 years now, I just picked up a 97 two weekends ago, I think I've picked up all the information I needed to get it where it should be, and I've just gotta get a few more parts in the mail so I can get it on the road for spring. Appreciate all the help I've gotten from this forum already!

Hey guys. I am from Michigan and last year I picked up a 96 s1 lightning from my cousin. He has had it since new and rode it for a few years then moved to Oklahoma and it probably has sat since 2001. So now I am trying to fix things on it but not having any luck finding parts for it. I also have questions about things that are going on with it that no one seems to know or want to help with. So I am hoping this place can do both. But other then that the bike runs great tends to have hiccups when cruising around 2500 to 3500 rpms. Needs new fork seals. I had to replace the head gaskets on it and had to add a grounding strap to the motor. Oh yeah and I can't find front disc bushings. Sorry if this is long and also sorry if this is the wrong place to post this. I new to the whole forum thing.

Welcome Nwilkerson!

I went to college in Michigan, originally from Wisconsin, and now live in North Carolina. But enough about that...

The section of Badweb dealing with the Buell tube framed bikes is Old School Buell. If the link doesn't work, just scroll down and look for 'Old School Buell' from the topics page.

I thought I saw a set of hardware for the front disc on eBay (listed by Lance at St. Paul H-D), but a quick search just now shows the rotor carrier and hardware kit (which is a bit pricier.

My initial thoughts about the 'hiccups' after hearing the bikes history is that the carb needs a good cleaning, including the insides, ensuring the jets are clean and clear. But posting in the Old School section will get you to the right group focused on the tube framed Buells.

Once again, welcome!
