Well...I guess my time's come.
33,000+ miles on my RX and the front sprocket is garbage, toast, junk (add your own adjective). The original rear isn't far behind, but the front..!
Luckily I bought sprockets a long time ago, so I should be good at this rate to 99,000 miles..!
That's what I'll be doing this weekend, cleaning and installing new drive goodies.

Can't help but ask, how did you manage 33K+ miles on original front/ rear aluminum sprocket?!?

Yep correct you are carbon steel front and aluminum rear sprocket standard stock materials. I couldn't imagine the RX drive sprockets are different from the SX, since I have the SX, a presumption on my part.

Yea, steel front, aluminum rear. I assume all of the EBR's are the same.
Odd that the rear is in better shape than the front..! On all my years/miles on two wheels, I've never seen a steel front go before an aluminum rear. I watch the rear closely for wear... Looked fine till the other day, after the trashed front loosened the chain significantly enough for everything to start bouncing around, further chewing itself up. Once I felt things happening, I took it real easy the rest of the way home.

How did I manage...hell, I don't know, just drive it.
I've never seen one in this bad a shape, this quickly. I just did a good cleaning about 6000 or 7000 ago. The teeth (all of'em) looked fine.
I wonder, is this sprocket case hardened or thru hardened ?

Oh well, doesn't really matter. I'll be retiring in a coupla months and the miles will drop significantly.

Congrats on the mileage Mike. What chain did you run, and how much up and down play in the chain did you maintain throughout that time?

Just as a note, the driving element in any power train will always wear more than the driven element and the difference in wear between the driving and driven elements will also be a function of the diameter difference.

Ebrfan -
First the stock chain, until something jammed in the swing arm on the freeway and pushed the chain into the outer wall of the Swing arm and screwed the chain pretty bad. Had a LOT of "side to side", or bending movement in it.
Then a D.I.D. "X" ring chain. Has held up well, till this..!
I use Lucas Chain Oil. Adjust it like the book says to. Difficult to get it "exactly" like the book says, but well within the limits.

Nope, not so much..!
A "hard steel" small sprocket vs. a mildly-hard" aluminum large sprocket...
In my just over 400,000 miles of being on two wheels, "normally" the front will outlast the rear, about...2 to 1.
This is all on 1000cc (or more) Sport Bikes.
This is the "first" time that the front is trash, the rear is still sorta usable.
Because the rear (till my drive home last week !) was still in plenty good condition, I never even thought to look specifically at the front for abnormal wear.
I'll know for next time, if I get it that far..!

So far the chain and sprocket wear on the EBR's is reported drastically different bike to bike!

The subject of proper adjustment has been so much I think we all get it.

But still, rear sprocket Vs. Front sprocket Vs. Chain wear is reported from 3000 to about 30,000 miles!

I'll just keep mine adjusted, lubed, and a close eye on it all regardless or service intervals stated in the manual.
