Yesterday I looked into having a tank protector made for my RX so I'd have something that I probably wouldn't see anywhere else, but as with most one-offs it's cost prohibitive.
This is for a high quality, super flexible, domed, self adhesive decal.
So...I wanted to find out if there would be any interest from the RX/SX owners out there.
I've attached a pic that shows the style, but it's essentially a negative of what I want.
I'd like mine to be black on a clear background, so at least for now that's what I'll be ordering. (and no, it won't be rectangular!)
To have only two made (you'd need 2 placed back to back) it would be about $370. If I order 10 it would be about $50ea, 15 would be about $40ea, and 25 would be about $30ea.
Again, you'd need 2 decals on your airbox cover.
I emailed them to find out what the difference might be to make one large decal instead of 2 smaller mirror images, if it's much of a difference I'll update tomorrow.
Anybody interested??

I need to get the design to them in Vector AI format, then they can quote a price on a single decal. I am not familiar with Vector AI format, I'm sure someone on here who's knowledgeable about graphic design would, though. I don't personally know any graphic designers, so I'll do some googling and find out what cost might be on that.
Another option would be for me to dome the decals myself with a flexible UV resistant polyurethane. It looks simple enough on several youtube vids I've seen....but you know how that goes. That being said, I'll try anything once.

I can make the file if you send me the design(terrydsmithjr@gmail.com). I'm no graphic designer though...

Thanks Terry...I'll def keep that in mind!

Just an update.....right now I'm waiting for some test decals to come in. I'm going to try my hand at doming them myself. I bought some high quality doming supplies....not cheap but less expensive than paying for a low-volume run from a shop. If I'm any good at it then I'll likely be able to provide the tank protectors (or whatever else you might domed) for less than originally thought.

Terry-if it doesn't work out I'll reach out to you.

I'll keep everyone posted..

Do these go on the frame or the airbox?

My original use for them was to put on the airbox as a tank protector. Each decal is roughly 9" x 3.25", they are mirror images, so placed back to back it would measure 9" x 6.5". This looks to be just about perfect for protecting the airbox from zippers, etc.

But a decal can be put wherever you want it....

What would you use in the middle of the airbox?

I don't have the decals in front of me yet, but I don't think the gap in the center will be that wide. A lot of tank protectors out there have gaps created by the design of the decal, but I think because of the doming it's not an issue. I suppose if you wanted to you could apply the clear 3M paint protector, and then put the decal on top of it…
