I'm am absolutely stunned at how contained the horsepower is on the 1190. I was expecting uncontrollable rowdy unruly power. Turns out, it's quite civilized. It's super smooth delivery is impressive. It's easier to ride than would have ever guessed. I wonder how many people overlooked this bike because of fear of unbridled power.

How does it compare to something like a Uly or some of other Buell bikes?

I'm not sure you can even compare it to a Buell considering a 75-80 hp difference.

The drivability gets even better once you delete the secondary muffler and put tips and ECM on it.

It probably compares pretty nicely, up to about 6000 RPM, at which point you have to shift the XB. Except you don't have to shift the 1190, and the power doubles over the next 4000 RPM.

So an XB is the bottom half of an 1190. Which isn't a terrible thing... but... dang 1190.

I'm in love with the 1190 power-band.

I just rode with my buddy who was on my old '06 XB12SS (I sold it to him), and he was right there with me 0-60, but after that....goodbye!

Rider weight had something to do with it too. I liked that I could hammer the throttle on the XB12 and it was the right amount of power. On the 1190, I gotta be careful, but it's just a learning curve....and a fun one at that.

I would agree that up to 6K RPM the 1190 is similar to an XB but after 6K it's another animal all together.

I guess what I was trying to say is that I'm super impressed with how easy it is to control. I was a little afraid of what riding a bike with this kind of horsepower would be like. Turns out that it is actually pretty smooth. Not at all scary like I had imagined

I agree, not scary, but seemingly limitless when invited. I doubt I've come close to experiencing the full throttle experience yet.

Most of the fun really begins after 6k rpm and at around 9k it turns into this warp drive like rush that is somewhat scary, assuming you stay fully committed to holding the throttle open all the way.

Keeping it under 5-6k rpm, it's quite manageable, although it still gets where you want to go in a hurry. 5k rpm in 6th gear is somewhere close to 90 mph.

I love the howl at 10.5krpm.
My RS hits peak torque at around 10.5 so that's where I shift on my mile runs.
When the secondary shower heads kick in around half throttle it's like a turbo lit up.

I don't get to full throttle until 3rd gear or it'll flip.
I'm told NOTHING at The Mile sounds like my RS. : )
178.4mph so far.
