Yeah I'm bored.....

So no adventure bike or AX sport tourer sounds like a lot more fun and will keep me off of a boring Victory Vision or Indian Chieftan Darkhorse. Bits on this wishlist needs to be somewhat low budget because designing a new bike is expensive. So here goes

1190 Motor: No tuning changes. Tuning would be a waste of limited funds and I have been piling the miles on my SX and this motor is beautiful.

Belt Drive: Seems like most of the ingredients are already in place to make this happen should probably drop the gearing.

Touring Tires
High Bars
Drop Pegs
Hand Guards
Heated Grips
Hard Bags
Windscreen/Fairing (expensive part)

Extras

USB Power Port
Compass and ambient temperature added to the screen (I miss the AT reading on my CR)
Upgraded seat


I had a weird idea about part of the fairing, space the radiators out a little for some leg protection. On cold nights like tonight I find myself putting my hand on the back of the fan to get warm. Seems like it would be cool to have an adjustable louver the back of the fan to direct some of the heat toward my shins.


Missing anything? A lot of the options listed can be had out of part catalogs so I would think EBR could get them a little cheaper than we can and avoiding changes to the chassis helps keep costs down.

Thought you'd never ask.

The small upper fairing needs to be body color along with the wheels, front and rear fender and possibly the side ducts. Yes, I like a little character.

It would be nice to see the upper fairing to be an abbreviated version of the RX, it would look just right being a little "fuller" if you will.

And yes, BELT DRIVE please.

I wonder how practical it is for EBR to come out with a different front fairing setup, one that is a little bigger like Lightning vs Uly, to allow for easier attachment of a decent windshield, and add accessory ports. Keep the same dash and headlight (just like Uly did vs Lightning).

Touring tires are a must, the stock Diablos are great, but they only last about 5 minutes before wearing out.

Personally I disagree with bars, the SX bars are very high up as it is (same as the upright bars on the CR). I find anything higher like those on the Uly to be uncomfortable and adding unnecessary costs with different cables and such.

I could go either way on footpegs, I'm happy with the stock ones but I know many would enjoy the extra leg room.

Hand guards +1, same with heated grips, I love them even in the summer on those chilly rainy days.

I'm not an engineer but I hope hard bags could be added to the SX even if it means sacrificing the ability to carry a passenger. I got a cool setup on my 1125s where I got hard bags that attach to a rack that replaces the passenger seat, something like that would be awesome to allow me to quickly switch between having a passenger or having luggage.


As much as I'd love to have a belt, I can't see it happening. Perhaps for a touring model they can switch to steel components for the chain instead of aluminum, I've read that a 530 chain and steel sprockets last longer and is more durable than the aluminum 520 setup that is stock. Obviously more weight is bad, but for bikes that won't be raced I can see it being a good tradeoff to reduce maintenance and operating costs on a street bike. They do need to change the gear ratio though, adding a few more teeth to the rear sprocket makes a nice change in the everyday driveability, no more slipping the clutch till like 20mph, riding around small towns with sub 30mph speedlimits is easier, and it reduces the huge jump between 1st and 2nd gear speeds. RPMs in 6th are a little higher, but not unreasonably so, and the bike is more willing to cruise in that gear.

Personally I'm not interested in off roading, so my wishes are for a sport touring bike rather than an adventure type.

It stands to reason that if that subframe will support a ~200 lb rider and ~150 lb passenger, it would easily support hard bags if you leave the passenger off.

I don't know what the maximum weight, or specifically how much of a load the rear of the tail section can take. EBR implied that it is not strong enough for both bags and a passenger, but never said anything about just bags. Physics are a crazy thing though, it is possible hard bags will stress the tail in a way that it wasn't designed for. Remember, the Uly can't run the tail bag without the side racks installed without risking damage, there may be something similar to consider on the 1190 tail.
