I searched the EBR site for these, but didn't find any. Any rumors from our RX riders?

I assume the fairing works pretty well at low speeds : )

It took me a minute to remember why I posted the Q. When EBR was up & running, I thought that they might be a source for the protectors for use on an XB. Kind of moot now, unless Belfer can get it going again.

Sadly, all the Buell bikes are susceptible to expensive damage when dropped.....no exceptions. Frame protectors, sliders or whatever does little to mitigate the vulnerability.

T-Rex makes a sliders for the 1125, I would think they would fit the 1190, and R&G racing is making a set for the 1190.

Back in September, I went down at about 55/60mph on a slow moving freeway on my RX.
Most all damage was on the left side.

Damage -
1. Right side mirror, gone (hit with my leg).

2. Left side handle bar ground, about 1/2" left on the road.

3. Left side mirror, scared lightly.

4. Left side aftermarket blinker (short) scared lightly

5. Left side upper body panel, scarred lightly (about 3/4" x 1-1/2").

6. Left side mid panel, ground thru just above and slightly to the front of the fan/center of the panel, ear (near the fan) broken off. The thru hole is about 1-1/8" dia.

7. Left large lift/slider spool on swing arm (stock location) ground about 1/2 way down.

8. Left outer fan duct, ground down and broken. Fastener pad broken out.

9. Left side foot peg, ground lightly on bottom only.

10. Radiator to fan duct frame. The radiator frame was bent, a VERY small amount where the inner duct is attached. An easy fix.

So...they really "DO NOT" sustain that much damage...and the sliders "DO"...protect as they are designed. At least in my crash..!
The frame sustained a little paint scuffing where the body panel hit it. A little rubbing with some WD-40 cleaned that up.
NO, frame or swingarm damage.

My collar bone got the worst of the total damage..! Jacket scuffed on shoulder, scuffing on the jacket back (lots of sliding!) a light scuff on the left side of my helmet

So no frame pucks available then?

I've dropped my XB on the pucks a few times and they've saved a TON of damage. I've only got axle sliders and frame pucks and have never had to replace a single thing. OK a left front blinker once I think...

Obviously the fairing on the RX would make that a little different story but...

What is available. Leaving it completely unprotected is NOT the right answer... We all know that. Sure a mirror or two and maybe some other things are still at risk but come on... we need to protect our fairings and other important bits. What will we have in 20 years if we don't? SX's?

"Protect out fairings"..?

There isn't a slider made that will "protect" the fairing.

As noted...in my case anyway, the midpanel body protected all the "important bits".

I'd say that while not cheap, after sliding about 60 yards down the freeway, the body panel (swing arm slider and handle bar) did a good job of protecting most of the important bits.

One thing I forgot to mention.
I had removed the nomex/fiberglass case protector from the "right" side of my CR and put it on the RX, but didn't do the left side..!
While not ground thru, the alternator case did get some good scuffing, but not thru to oil.
I bought the GB Racing case protectors for the RX, and put the other protector back on the 1125CR.

No fork damage either. Just a "little" light scuffing on he front tire.

M1 - or do you want a full bubble ?

I'm just thinking that in 25 years the fairings will be hard to find and hard to produce.

I suppose there will still likely be aftermarket bodies for sale though. It's just that I've learned a few hard lessons in sourcing hard to find parts for cars and would like to reduce the likely-hood of needing to do that while still being able to ride the bike.

In case you weren't aware, we have designed axle sliders for both the RX & SX models. Look here: http://www.5-0dro.com/index.php/erik-buell-racing
