1 Small and 1 Medium flat head (damper adjustments)

5mm Allen (Preload)

Medium Crescent (Left oil drain plug, Oil filter cover). Will the 5mm allen work for the two oil filter cover fasteners?

Xmm Allen (Right oil drain plug)

What size are the seat fastener bolts in case I need to remove/charge the battery?

What size are the chain adjuster nuts in case I need to adjust chain tension?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer these : ).

The oil filter cover is torx drive size 27 and as is the lone seat bolt that is accessed from under the tail section.

Please do not use allen on screws and try not use a cresent ever on your bike. Are you a mechanic or a plumber?

This simple set will do just about anything on our bikes if you pickup some $10 sets of combination wrenches...
Hopefully you have an inch-lbs torque wrench for the small bolts.

Also invest in one of these and run the plug up into the passenger seat compartment so all you have to do is remove the passenger seat to charge.

These lithium batteries need to be conditioned every few months or if the bike will not be ridden for a month or so.

It takes this charger about 2 minutes to do it's thing when I leave for a month for work.

I'm not a mechanic or a plumber : ).

As much as I hate crescent wrenches I'll always have one with me in the event of somehow not having the right size wrench. It's certainly better than not being able to do something that's needed.

That said... The fact that I chose a crescent wrench for that was almost entirely due to not knowing the size and making a list of tools needed based on the best info I have currently. If you have the size please do tell : ). I suspect it's likely the same size as the one on my Firebolt but I don't know that. If I don't figure it out and I take a crescent I can get it done. If I take my best guess I may not be able to unless I take a full set of wrenches which I'd rather not do. I'd rather just take the correct wrench with me when I go to pick up the bike. I'll be needing to do an oil change about half way home so I need to know what tools to take in advance (whether I use it or not, hopefully not... One of those tools will certainly be a small or medium crescent).

I'm glad the fasteners on the oil filter are T27. I have a few good ones of those (and some pretty ones I've picked up over the years).

Will do for sure... Thanks for the tip.

Is there a quick way to get the breather out of the intake? I could take a small breather filter with me if they actually puke that much and I don't mind cleaning up a bit. I just don't want that running through the engine.

OK so it should be the same size as the 1125 so here are the required tools for oil change..
Left side drainplug: 17mm socket or wrench
Left side oil filter cover retaining bolts: 8mm socket or 27 torx
Right side drainplug: 6mm Allen

Not sure about the breather...

Terry - T30(6mm) not T27(1/4-20).

So the filter takes a T30?

Thank you. Anything else I need? Do I need to remove any fairing bits for an oil change? If so what do those take?

From the owners manual it looks as though I'll need to remove the belly pan...

What tools will I need for that?

Parts manual seems to indicate a T25 and a T30 is needed for belly pan removal?

Can anyone confirm that?

A T27 works good as a "speed driver" as you can get a little angle on the fasteners but don't torque on it too hard.
You will strip the head.

I don't quite understand what you're saying...

I don't mind bringing a T30 and a T25 if that's what they take... Are those the right sizes?

FWIW - The tool kit under the passenger seat has all the torx and more...

T27 will work in a 6mm screw but it's sloppy.
That means you can use it like a hex ball driver, allowing a 15 degree or so wobble off center.
Use the T30 for full torque.

So the T30 for the larger one... The smaller one on the fairing is a T27 or a T25?

Why don't you just go to Harbor Freight and buy a set.
They are cheap, cost's run from $3.99 to $29.99 and everywhere in between.

I have all the tools I need.

I'll be flying to the bike's location and riding it home. I need to change the oil on the way and I'll need a minimal tool set that will allow me to perform the things I am likely to run into. One of those will be a need to change the oil and it looks like I need to remove part of the fairing to do so.

I don't want to take a full set.

I want to take what I need to take.

Can anyone please confirm that a T30 and a T25 are the right sizes for the fairing, that a 6mm allen and a small flat head is right for the suspension adjustment, 17mm socket is right for one oil drain plug and it's either T27 or T30 for the other side (oil filter cap)?

Please?

I appreciate the info about using a torx in an allen bolt but I already knew that and I'd rather use the right tools for the job if I can.

I just need to know what tools I need. If I had the bike here I would look myself. If I wasn't going to ride it a damn 1000 miles in the first two days of ownership I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks a TON Terry : ).

I don't mean to sound like a whining prick : ), but I'm just trying to get some good info and I keep getting replies that say I can use some other tool in a pinch, to get a whole set of tools or to go wash my mouth out with soap because I said "crescent" : ).

I just need to know exactly what tools are required to do an oil change with filter and to adjust suspension.

OK, apparently I was talking out the wrong end...
I just checked sizes on the RX we have here and there are several sizes.
I found ONE T30 by the right side fan.
Most of the screws are T27, the front one on the belly pan is a T25.
Looks like, OMG the whole left side is T30, the right is T27 with 2 of the 4 fan screws T30.
Not looking forward to working on one of these now.

My RS is all dzus so this is a surprise. Not a good one.

From what I see you need T30, T27, T25to remove the belly pan.

I've wondered how popular T27 is outside the Buell/EBR world. I've gotten bits and drivers easily enough, but it was at an old fashioned place in St Paul that has since closed.

My RS is all dzus

Your RS should be all Mil-Spec C-Spec fasteners, unless you've changed them.
They're extremely nice and high quality, but are exponentially more expensive than the RX configuration.

No changes there.
Just saying all my bodywork comes off with the same tool.
Did NOT expect to find 3 different tools needed.
I guess if I only had a T27 I wouldn't notice until the 2 T25s at the front...
