Getting ready to pull the trigger on an SX place in Illinois is asking $9,999 said they can get me out the door for 13k tax license and all that bs. Seems like a pretty good deal I love my 1125cr so I think the SX is right up my alley. Anyone he any input suggestions warnings. Would be appreciated.

What's the SN#? The earlier ones had issues with starter corrosion.

Illinois must have some serious taxes?!

Secondary muffler delete is a must.

@Terry not sure but will definitely check, before I commit how can I tell if it falls in that category ?
Actually they were kinda trying to pull a fast on and added in a freight charge got that subtracted so will be 12k out the door. But now I definitely need to check the serial number to be sure it doesn't fall in those that had starter issues

The earlier starters had a smaller diameter o-ring on the starter housing allowing moisture inside.

I don't ride in the rain or wash the bike with any kind of water or pressure washer so it's not a concern for me...

I'm not sure about many other common issues. There have been some comms errors with display, leaking gaskets, white powder showing up in head light.. Check on EBRForum.com

What is this..."pulling the trigger on..." comment ?

I've always "pulled the trigger" on things I wanted to "destroy"..!

My data indicates most 1190s could have poor starter seal. I haven't found a correlation in build dates or serial numbers. Don't let it slow you down - easy fix or better yet easy preventative maintenance.

MCC's service manager is a die hard Bueller and races his EBR. Solid.

I wouldn't knock yourself out . . . be mindful that you are talking, the entire production run, of a number too small to be statistically significant and all starters were part of a single order. It's not like they were different production runs over a period of time.

When you are talking EBR "data points" you are likely talking a population of less than a couple bikes.

If it's an easy fix . . . I'd fix it and not get to stirred up about the stats.

It's impacted more than a couple bikes. Participants here and on FB, indicate more like 50%. (Granted that those are not all EBRs but active online enthusiasts)

Of 25 RX & SX surveyed, 12 experienced corroded starter internals, 11 of those failed, 1 was identified during preventive maintenance.

RX failures included s/n 40 (lowest) 299 (highest). SX s/n 72 (lowest) 132 (highest) reported.

Different starter MFR dates were involved including 2013/11/08 - 0488 and 2013/12/11 - 0248

$3k in taxes, license, doc fees, & prep on a $10k bike sounds a bit much but I'm sure they can detail it all.

I think many hold wildly inflated visions of how many EBR products were sold.

I could be wrong.

Offer them $11,000 out the door, tax, title, plates. They will probably do it. If not, at yhis point there are a lot of dealers on cycletrader.com who will.

Freight is a REAL charge. If you THINK you are to paying it . . .it's simply been moved out of sight.

Car dealers play those games as well.

@Court yes I realize freight is a real charge. But it is usually added into the overall asking price. Not something thats added after the asking price. Regardless I made a typo on the original post the asking price was $10,999.00 not $9,999.00. I have since told them that seeing that it's a 2014 model and we are about to enter 2016 and seeing that EBR is now defunct. That combined (thank you guys for the info of what they are selling for nationally.) with the fact the they are availible nationally for 11K out the door. That 11K is the magic number for me. They said ok, I should be picking my new EBR 1190SX up by the end of the week. My Christmas present to myself. ( best one I ever got

I am going with red. I usually would have went with the blue. But while looking for an 08 1125R in black and blue, I came across a 09 1125CR in red for 2k. Was not what I was looking for and would usually not go with red but was too good a deal to pass up. So I bought the bike. And have since fallen in love with the CR look and the color.

Nice pans, love seeing the old stuff I grew up with.
Never had a panhead but little brother's first Harley was a "baby" pan, 1000cc.

61" Panhead engines are rare, only made from 48 to 52. Can't remember if Harley went to Timken bearing for the bottom end in 52 or 55. As simple an engine are they were, a lot of pretty amazing engineering went into them.

Nice Panheads Lucky. I'd only part with the Twincam; they make a lot of them nowadays and they are cheap too. I got my SX so I would quit beating on my Shovel's. I paid $11k out the door too, which is a reasonable $10,400.00 for the new bike.

Those translucent plastic parts were always more brittle than the solid colored counterparts. You won't find many translucent air box covers that don't have at least one crack by the mounting holes.

That's why later they came out with the metal/rubber hardware kit for them. The translucent pieces are also VERY heavy. Still, I had a Hero Blue airbox cover and now have a brand new Kick Ash one on the way because they are just sweet.}

I've had a Kick-Ash airbox on Loretta since 2009.
Metal-rubber washers, no cracks.
