I actually bought the adjustable ECM from the guys at "idspd", but I had them install the EBR, Muffler Delete maps. I wanted to see how well this mapping worked before I start messing with it..!

While I only put a few miles on it this morning, and while it's still not perfect, it is MUCH better than the stock mapping.
The low speed driveability is much improved, the low and mid acceleration is much improved. Medium acceleration from low rpm' and mid rpms to about 6000rpm is smother and cleaner than the original mapping.
Driving at 5000 and 6000 in first and second is very clean and smooth. I'll find out about the full throttle acceleration on Monday morning..!

Overall horsepower...I really don't care. I'm not drag racing, nor am I gonna dyno tune it to death, it's a daily driver that needs to properly work from low rpm's to higher rpm's, split lanes well, go slow well, etc., etc.
Some canyon work will come in a few weeks...

This is just to say, if you are on the proverbial fence about buying this $300 ECM, it's well worth the money.

I wasn't going to say anything till tonight when I "finished" my daily trek to work and back...as you can see...

After a short 30mph drive thru town and a 70 to 85mph drive to work...41 miles total.

Any of you with the EBR 1190 powered bike that has not...bought one of these (Muffler Delete) ECM's..."NEEDS" to. You are doing the engine and yourself a disservice if you do not. Everything about the way the engine runs is different. From my 30mph (bout 1 mile) drive thru town, to 40 and 60 to 80mph roll-ons...to lifting the front wheel getting on the freeway at about 90mph...yea, the handlebars went limp at about 90 in second gear. Never happened before.

"MORE" than worth the $300 and the ten minutes to hook it up and remove the outer muffler. No other work needed.

The sound, without the second muffler is nice. Deeper tone, throaty sound without being too loud (??) for my neighbors at 4:30 in the morning.

$300, eh? That's pretty reasonable.

Getting my 2nd Gen Vmax tuned costs $550 and that just buys me a mail-order flash loaded over my stock ECM--not even any custom settings.

90 in first gear?

really? I can get 92 out of second on my bike. It has the EBR ECM for the secondary muffler delete.

Meoff -

Yes, you are correct, my mistake, second gear.
But...only 92mph ? I occasionally let it go to 100 on this particular onramp in the morning. Have done it several times.
Not watching the tach., just the MPH so I really don't know where the rpm is. Too busy watching the traffic at 4:30 in the morning to see the crappy tach. bar moving.
Just by the feel of the power, I'd assume it would go faster in second than just 100.

Hell, my old S1000RR would run to just over 100 in "first" gear, with the higher rpm range than the 1190's have.

I don't get many opportunities to open her up like that. The couple times i did i think i had traction control on and didn't want to bounce it off the rev limiter.

all i know is it is fast!!!!

I just received a race ecm for my sx from nccr. It turned out to be a unit from idspd. I installed it earlier today, it totally transforms the way the bike performs in the lower RPM range. On the first ride around the block I found myself short shifting it all the time! Before the install I never really felt good in 6th until 65 mph or so. It now easily cruises around town @ 50-55 in 6th. I was surprised by how much louder the bike is at idle, I am still not sure if I like the sound it has quite a bit more drone than I would like. My 1125r had a barker slip on it was a much sharper exhaust note, but I seem to remember less drone. Overall I am very pleased with the upgrade!

This may be a dumb question, but when you did the muffler delete... what did you use for tips?

So far...nothing...!
On one hand I kinda like the no muffler look.
But I also drive my bike in the rain...so, while actually moving, engine running, it shouldn't be a problem, sitting in the parking lot all day with water going into the muffler isn't good.

Drill a hole for the water to drain, get plastic plugs, put tips on it..??
I was going to have a set bent up this past weekend, didn't happen, maybe next weekend.
Either stainless or aluminized (alum. plated) steel, we'll what the cost difference is.
Also been thinking of making a "collector", run both tubes into a tapered collector..?? That should sound odd.

Double checked this morning...
2nd gear, 41 tooth sprocket, new 190-55 tire.
100mph at the soft limiter.
I can't always get there because of traffic, but was able to today.

Last time I got to 100, I didn't realize that I was right there at the rev limiter, just didn't really come in.

I know my speedometer is pretty close (as all EBR bikes I assume are) per 5 different curbside radar units somewhat near my house. Most at school crossings.

I am very new to EBR, actually taking delivery of my SX next month, but am curious what you mean by secondary muffler delete.

What are you removing from the exhaust system? Pictures are the best, but if you could please explain how to remove the secondary muffler.

Thanks

You turn

Into this:

Secondary is held on by two clamps where it meets the main exhaust, and the footpeg hanger comes off with two screws. I did it to mine last weekend, I just need to source some nice tips like in the second photo, as I already have the Race ECM.

Removing that muffler that hangs on the side of the bike. That is the secondary muffler. Removing it requires a remapped ecm. I belive there are post on here with before and after pictures.

1_mike, Mike bike had factory sprocket and tire. Not sure what the tooth count is on factory.

Froggy - thanks for the pics, that really looks awesome. Does your foot now get in the way of the exit port (exhaust on your ankles)?

I saw the posts about the upgraded ECM, Does anyone carry tips to be clamped on in place of the open pipe?
