I suggest we use this one thread to post updates regarding the EBR demo truck. Just posted to EBR's Facebook page:

Stop in today at our local Massachusetts dealer for a test ride on a new EBR 1190 RX or SX from 10am-4pm! Just look for the EBR Demo Truck on site! http://www.indianofspringfield.com/

>>>I would have taken the day off if I would have known!!!

Problem is . . . no one seems to be at the controls.

Interesting . . .that of the 20,000+ Badwebbers . . . only one noticed it on Facebook.

I rest my case.

Court, I almost never hit Facebook. If someone didn't crosspost the schedule here from Facebook a few weeks ago, I would never have known about it happening at Big Boyz either.

The Facebook feed on EBR.com is nice, but things like these need a bit more announcement on the website in my opinion. Even an email list would be nice.

I would say its a pretty safe bet that for the actual buying target market, Facebook is not the best advertising medium. It may be free but its not as effective as other forms of more traditional avenues.

I think facebook is a medium that should be used like any other. I look because I find out what is going on a short-notice basis, like the schedule for the demo truck. But it isn't part of a longer-term advertising strategy, like the proposed annual schedule for the truck, or what is coming over the horizon model-wise, what may happen with the race team, personnel changes, etc. Facebook helps find people, events, etc. That is part of how I identified the 27 1190 owners, but not the only way.

If, for example, EBR said that the demo truck was going to be at the races in Austin in the spring, go through bike week in Arizona in April (like the Tempe dealer wanted), swing through Southern California in March, and hit the IMS shows next year, then some of us 20,000 badwebbers would plan to attend.

That accounts for less than 2 hours of production . . . .

See the problem?

>>>>That is part of how I identified the 27 1190 owners, but not the only way.

We are up to 3 hours of production time . . .

The fact that it was NOT on the company website bodes poorly and sends an ominous message.

I confess . . . and I'm sorry to admit it . . .that I'm among those who have pretty much stopped checking the website.

I'm surprised that at least one of the dealers didn't put something on Badweb . . . I mean . . .target market or not . . there is no larger concentrated population of Buell faithful.

The current . . apparent . . . lack of cohesive strategy sends a message that engineering, all the non-motorcycle stuff, has eclipsed the motorcycles.

The PR mistakes . . .the goofy trash and trinkets, the accidental YouTube unveiling, the accidental AX announcement . . . creates the appearance that all the new faces lack the cohesive sense of mission to do what needs to be done.

EBR is making a lot of critical mistakes that give me as an owner great concern for the long term success for the company.

Due to the fact that nearly every other company has a 4 or more year old liter bike there have been no shoot outs to help bolster the bikes accomplishments. The only one to be done so far was on a bike that had not been tested at the factory to ensure it was tip top for the public. Now we have the 220hp H2 coming to market along with a new KTM a 200hp 1299 Panigale, and 200hp plus R1. There is still a ton of incorrect information out there in the market about the bikes and EBR isn't advertising just why their machine is priced where it is and what you get for your money. I would imagine between the USA and Australia their have been 50 bikes sold. EBR Australia by the way is doing a much better job of getting the word out than is being done state side.

EBR has got to get a handle on the non motorcycle stuff before they completely overshadows the bike itself.

The SX was unveiled at IMS. The Indy EBR dealer wasn't aware and wasn't invited. WHAT??!! The EBR marketing plan is helping no one, it seems. Dealers and potential buyers alike are being left in the dark. ...and I HAVE drunk the koolaide.

>>>The Indy EBR dealer wasn't aware and wasn't invited.

One of the reasons I've had "are these guys really in business calls?' from dealers.

Now . . little contact, intermittent . . very informal support and no service manuals.

If you are going to be a 85% design . . 15% motorcycles firm . . . I think you need to let folks know that motorcycles is a lingering side business.

By the way . . . that's based ENTIRELY on pure personal opinion . . . . I've no frrickin' clue as to what's going on.

That's ok. I'm not an employee or an owner.

But . . I'd love to see these folks succeed and when the owners and dealers haven't a clue (based on personal conversations with owners and dealers and I confess 6 or 7 isn't a representative sample) that's distressing.

Court,

Please get the heck out of my head!

Seriously, over the past couple of weeks - that I've been too busy to actively participate in the EBR discussions here on BadWeB - I've had those exact same thoughts.

I visited a dealer in Chattanooga while I was in the Knoxville area for business. What a line up; Carbon RS, a trio of RX's and a trio of SX's. They've retailed to date...1 RX and 1 SX. I was delighted to see they had some EBR apparel, dismayed that they didn't have anything in my size. Someone from NC who doesn't even own an EBR cleaned them out of that. My 'local' dealer has finally gotten their account setup with EBR Racewear, but has asked me what I'd like to order rather than tell me 'come in after X date and we'll have ...'

The dealer in Chattanooga was excited about the Parts Unlimited distribution and gave me a little demo on looking up parts/prices, but then there was that grayed-out text 'Service Info'... Neither the dealer rep nor I were too pleased by that.

When the regular RX ads in RRW stopped, I presumed that it would signal the mass-marketing of the SX in typical (i.e. wider distributed) motorcycling press. In the end it turned out I should've assumed, because it surely made an ass out of me.

I drink the Kool-Aid like it's going out of style, but this is not the kind of exclusivity that I was expecting/hoping for.

I wasn't going to post the following pic, but (unfortunately) I feel it really fits the topic at hand:

KTM-EBR

As for FB - truth be told - I only signed up for it to have a bit more 'real time' insight into the pulse of EBR (i.e. more Kool-Aid),

I always have to think several times before posting, then by virtue of "encroaching age and senility", as my dad always said, I forget what I was originally going to say. I very much want to see this venture succeed, and I think that given the product, it will.

Those of us who have ridden the new bikes are ecstatic. Those who haven't are missing something exciting.

I haven't seen them flying out the door, but I suspect that the demo rides will have a significant impact. I will pass on the info from facebook here as it comes up and any other information I stumble across.

In terms of the bikes, the Mrs. and I take them to events when we are able, and they are well received. I offered the RS to the dealer to take to a show before he had his RX's. Offer still stands (as long as no one sits on it).

When my youngest graduates from school, I will probably give him the R/CR for a graduation present. I can't bear to sell it for what I would get for it. Will have to replace it with something and these are obviously on top of my list.

While I would like more in the way of long-term plans unfurled, I am a happy customer.

Its not what you know.
Its not who you know.
Its who knows you that affords you the opportunity for success.

I'm as vocal about these bikes as anyone and I love the ride but right now EBR very few people know you. Its going to take some more effort to get your new identity and bikes out there. Demo truck is a great start but you also need more content for owners, potential buyers and dealers to become knowledgeable on why to invest in EBR.

The fact that we had an Anony post in the thread is encouraging. SOMEBODY at EBR is apparently paying attention.

It is interesting reading all of these post's and both encouraging and disappointing to see what is being written, I and a friend attended the demo at the Westfield Mass. dealer on Monday the 22nd and have mixed feelings. The test rides were great the 3 E.B.R. employees were wonderful very helpful enthusiastic people ,but unfortunately it was not well attended ,I believe including my friend and I there were only about 6 people (we got there about 10;30 and stayed to about 3:30.In talking to the dealer rep from E.B.R. I said that some thing's could be done to better get the word out about these great bike's one is to please update the web site and perhaps make it interactive, another is to make available much more parts and accessories for the bikes and finally I said these demo days are great but the bikes have to be brought to places where sportbike enthusiast's hang out because hardly any one know's what an E.B.R. is. He did agree and also said that there are many accessories (he showed me pictures) of a lot of good parts coming out in the next few weeks and said next year they plan on being much more visible.so hope fully things will improve.
