The way that thing's battery/drive is slam at the bottom and the swingarm to shock architecture screams Buell.

What's next, the dirtbike?

In all fairness, there was probably going to be an HD version of the leectric if The Buell version did well, still, it's irksome. And pretty good looking.

I really like it. I dig the way the mirrors/signals attach to the top of the tree.

It looks cool because it looks like an xb9/12s. Is that front wheel hubless?...interesting, similar to the EBR 1190.

It even has the Barracuda/EBR-1190 wheel spokes, I wouldn't be surprised if they're hubless, too. The basic design is pretty tight, take all the plastic crap off and the rear looks right. The front looks like it rolled through Judas Priest's wardrobe van, and the chrome spray paint is a classy touch. It can't BE super heavy, let's make it LOOK heavy. *palm to forehead*

Still, it looks good given it's an HD badged product, pretty forward for them.

I would like to see the original....and I'd really like to see the EBR take on this. Too bad HD beat them to market on the electric bike. Whoda' thunk it? Although, it may have been part of the shut down/ non compete deal.

I just don't see the resemblance in the wheels. Front wheel is definitely not the same; no ZTL requires different wheel structure.

If I was a betting man, I'd bet money that Harley-Davidson never puts that prototype into production. It's simply not their type of motorcycles.

I actually like the bike but it will never be sold!

Looking through their marketing site... I hate it already, no matter how good a bike it is.

Looks like it's a demo truck experience. Which will allow them to gloss over the fact that it will only have a 40 mile highway range.

A niche bike for someone who doesn't have to go far, but I don't live in NY or London.

The Brammo dual sport is a much better bike that also doesn't exist and that also isn't good enough.

The market? Not yet.

The front wheel in this bike is almost exactly like the Hastur concept bike from Hero. Even the rotor mount is identical minus the second rotor. It's also similar to the HX250R as well. Is something fishy going on here or what??

I was beginning to ask the same thing. Wonder if this is product of EBR's engineering consulting services on the DL. I would almost assume do it's overall geometry and cast frame. It looks similar to a stretched XB but those wheels are nearly a dead give away. Also after so close examination, the Livewire has the identical side stand to the RX from what I can tell. I can't find a good photo of the left side of the rx.

One of the "bikes" in my stable is an electric scooter. It will only run 25 mph and go 35 miles on a charge, but it is great for short errands. It is FUN to sneak up on people and blow the horn!

I'll say it here first.......

EBR will BEAT HD to the market with a viable electric bike.

Why? Hero. They've been working this for Hero, and there's a huge market over there for all kinds of bikes

*EBR will BEAT HD to the market with a viable electric bike.*

You sure about that? Because I see a running HD bike, and no EBR bike. Just sayin'. Hope you're right though.

*I just don't see the resemblance in the wheels. Front wheel is definitely not the same; no ZTL requires different wheel structure.*

Obviously it's not ZTL, I just meant the spoke pattern.

I think Court's got a good point here.

I don't see much resemblance to the 1190 wheels, but the they do look very similar to another EBR design:

That's the Hero Hastur 650cc concept/prototype, shown last year. EBR contributed heavily to the design.

EBR is supposed to start distributing Hero motorcycles in the U.S. soon, so maybe we'll see it in a year or two.

All Harley has are a bunch of prototypes they are trucking around for demo days to get feedback from the public. EBR/Hero has a hybrid that will be in actual production and can actually be purchased, not just test rode during a special event. As of this moment, Harley has no plans to produce the bike.

Also convenient that a "demo ride" will nearly never trip the landmine that is built into these bikes... the short range and long recharge.

Hmm let’s see… cast frame… trellis style… linkageless monoshock… hubless wheels(?)… Buell parts bin footpegs/kickstand… adjustment free belt… abbreviated tail… Where have I seen those before? Certainly not on any HD before it.

If the EBR consulting firm didn’t directly engage in this effort then me thinks that HD dusted off some old Buell IP from the vault without changing much. It’s obviously more Buell in execution than any Harley I’ve ever seen. At the very least it's an emulation of what Erik would do. Talk about mixed messages from the mothership...
For what it’s worth, there was a subtle comment in another thread that alluded to some involvement from "Buell" but it wasn’t clear if it was pre or post Buell shutdown. A little google fu suggests that the poster is/was in the know.

Reepicheep succinctly states the EV 's current dilemma:

".....The Brammo dual sport is a much better bike that also doesn't exist and that also isn't good enough....."
