Now that we've seen it, what kind of accessories would you like to see EBR come out with?

For sure something like the race exhaust, for track use of course. Bodywork for track use would be nice, but I'm sure the after market will get to that. At least for me the RX looks pretty complete. Would you really, really need to change the suspension if you were staying with trackday use only?

I know I'm missing a lot. What could it be? Would you try to make a naked bike out of it? Saddle bags?

saddlebags, tail bag, double bubble, heated grips, extra-comfy seat, USB charger for trips down the coastline or up into the mountains.

headlight blank for trackdays, other than that this bike is probably track-oriented enough as is.

now if only I could afford another monthly payment.

I have no doubt - since Geoff is already committed to campaigning an RX next season - there will be any manner of race bits available, if they aren't already in production somewhere:

Tail eliminator
Bodywork
Exhaust
ECM
Headlight delete/override
Mirror delete plates

But...the rest of it is already there. HP. Tq. Chain drive. ZTL ductwork. Vortex clip-ons. TC. Street slipper clutch. Radial master cylinders. It's....already got it. : )

It wouldn't surprise me if any touring accessories had to come from the aftermarket, at least for now.

That's what the AX will be for.

Well I'd love to make some aftermarket touring parts for this thing... but by the time i'm able to afford one, there will be something better out, and someone will probably already have partst available.

It looks to me like the 1190RS race bodywork should fit sans headlight and fans.

I'm curious if they will offer an exhaust. The Long Wave Tuner seems like an integral part in developing the bike's power.

I would definitely not put an aftermarket pipe on it. If EBR offers an exhaust upgrade, that's the only thing I would install on the 1190RX.

^ I 100% agree. That torque number is massive. I can only think of a few bikes with more torque and which are considered to be "monster" bikes, not super/sport bikes. V-max 113ft/lbs and the Rocket three with 150ft/lbs to name a few. I think Erik may have accidently cornered his own line in aftermarket parts for the RX. Putting on anything else would be like wearing your wifes underwear to work on the outside.

If EBR makes race ecms for obsolete bikes they didn't build ie: Buells I would bet they might offer the same for a superbike they did produce.

Besides, they do make one programmed for the 1190 big bore kit retro fit. I am sure they had a race tune for the RS as well, though I don't see it on their site.

My guess, is yes they will, after all they are going racing.

It's just that they seem to have the engine tapped out. I wonder if a race ecm will squeeze anymore out of it? The S1000rr is tapped out unless you move up to the HP4 which.is.several thousand $ more.

I know an 1125 ran crappy with the stock tune. Install an off road race only ECM and the bike wakes up. It may have been tapped out by emissions standards but required to run too lean for the best usable power.

EBR offers big bore kits for 1125s. I'm still guessing there will be exhausts and ecms and race bodywork and suspension parts available for the RX.

I just saw a video from KTM. In it they installed a race Akrapovic which gave it another 12hp.

Not the same bike I know, but if the RX and SD are both meeting the same regs than i would expect the same with an EBR exhaust.

Oh , where is Erik? Is he working on another top secret bike somewhere????

I'm curious http://www.motorcycledaily.com/2013/10/erik-buell- racing-introduces-new-production-street-bike-the-e br-1190rx/ as to why this "Contrary to the published specs, we understand Brembo might end up being the manufacturer of the brakes on the production units" statement has not been discusses or reported on further. Brembo making the brakes is a huge plus, especially if they include an up spec master cylinder.
MV ships battery tenders with their pre-wired F3's. That would also be a nice accessory for the RX. How about a single seat cowl cover. Trunk looks big enough for a decent tool kit as well.

It's conceivable Brembo would supply the MCs. They do for Yamaha, for example.

I will be very surprised if they supply the caliper.

> MV ships battery tenders with their pre-wired F3's.

Glad to see they acknowledge their bikes are garage queens. The RX ships with a Li battery making the tender largely unnecessary.

I would love to see some of those RX parts and pieces being made available for the earlier 1125s, like the radiator(s), oil cooler and body panels. Cooling is a big problem on the 1125s. Much of the waste heats boils the fuel and heats the air box, especially at low speeds. Also, for short legged riders (me), a different subframe that reduces the seat height. Not all of us have 32" inseam lengths.

The 1125r cooling system is a case of the stylist at HD trumping the engineering Elves. That radiator set up made the RC51 a very hot running bike as well. Unfortunately it was the only way to show off the motor. The 1190 seems to take the absolute opposite extreme, the exposed ducted fans and deflectors offer the first cooling set up I've seen in a long time that does not have hot air from the radiators either dumping onto or deflecting off of the engine, and then onto the rider.

Shorai battery is an odd creature. It wants to be warmed up in cold weather. I don't want to stand around for 4 or 5 minutes with the headlight on waiting in the cold. I have one in my TW200. Below 20* I have to warm the battery. So, I installed a kick starter. I know most people don't ride when it gets cold out. But, I do and can find fault with the CCA ratings if the Shorai battery gets cold.

My little bike calls for a "LFX09L2-BS12" rated at 9 A/H 135 CCA according to Shorai. I installed a Shorai "LFX14L2-BS12" 14 A/H 210 CCA. Come on, I'm turning a 200cc engine with maybe 9 to 1 compression. Battery has never started it at below 20*. I can kick start it at -20* second kick every time. I hope Higbee put a magic pill in the batteries for EBR.

Battery has never started it at below 20*

Assuming that's 20* F and not C, that falls under the category of "outside operational design parameters" and therefore a non issue for the factory. At those temps you could complain about the tires never warming up either. It's a race based replica. Who road races in sub freezing weather? If you're using the RX for winter, arctic, or high altitude touring, ice racing or as a snow mobile, then yea you need a different battery technology (or bike altogether),otherwise Li Batteries work fine. No magic pill required.

Why do people buy a race replica and then complain it's not comfortable for getting groceries or hauling lumber? SMH

I'm really curious since every other bike on the market at this price point now comes with quickshifter, if the bike will at least be pre wired for one?

That radiator set up made the RC51 a very hot running bike as well.

At the same token the RC ran no hotter then the CBR 929,954 and the 1000 inlines of the same years through 2006.

Powerful gasoline engine always produce much heat.

Someone ought to invent a thermostatically controlled, ducted, forced-air cooling scheme to blow hot air from the engine area back behind and away from the rider. uhoh

I think the AX rumors hinted at a date further out than that. What I intuited was that it was going to be the RS, RX (where we are now), then the SX (which makes sense, a naked RX).

So I think we will see the SX late this year.

Then the AX (which I hope will be a fairly ambitious effort and not just an SX with taller suspension and a beak glued on) a year or two after that.

So you should probably plan on keeping those Ulys running for another couple years. : )

Man, you guys must be loaded because there is no way I would be able to swing buying an SX or AX as a "kind of accessories for the RX from EBR"

I was thinking more like a Race wind screen, the stock one is really low. But the aerodynamic model they used has more of the rider in the airstream as part of the design.

A tail tidy and perhaps a quickshifter... maybe an tablet to go with the electronic manuals. Finding a tail tidy that works with that hornet's tail is going to be tough. Great for the track, no rear light to tape, but tough for the street even though I know it is the correct legal place to mount the plate where I live, I would still prefer the plate tucked closer to the machine. May be a complementary EBR cover for the first 200 customers...

Brembo Master Cylinders would really be nice.
