Well, I cracked open the June '09 Motorcyclist and there, on page ten, it reads "Own the corners".

Problem is, it's a Yamaha ad.

I can't believe Buell would go so far as to proactively steal Yamaha's advertising slogan for themselves. Jerks.

did Buell TradeMark it ?.... sounds like infringement to me, but bring a Yami my way, I will see if it can hang in the corners I ride.

The various competition is copying several aspects of the bike's design too. More centralized mass, underslung mufflers etc are getting to be non-Buell traits these days. It's almost like they are nipping on Buell's heels.

I ran a little search at the uspto.gov, didn't come up with own the corners as a trademark.

If you ever have the good fortune to create a great advertising campaign, you will soon see another agency steal it. This is irritating, but don't let it worry you; nobody has ever built a brand by imitating somebody else's advertising.

The actual line is "Own the corners. Without cutting any."

Sounds like a direct reference and slap in the face to Buell. In other words, what they are saying is, you ( the buyer of a Yamaha ) can have the benefit of owning the corners, just like a Buell, without the shortcomings of a Buell.

If it actually is a direct response to Buell, that's a good thing - it means that Buell is a big enough blip on their radar that they're gunning for Erik & Co. I prefer that to "Boo-ell? Is that French?"

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me some 1125Rs have taken care of stages 3 and 4 as well. ; )
