Yes! Get a Stebel horn, and a relay- with some rearranging under the flyscreen (gotta move the turnsignal relay downward), and some creative stuffing of stuff back into place, it'll fit.
I ended up cutting a hole in my flyscreen to allow proper projection from the horn forward.
Looks like a Buell, sounds like a freightliner!! Great fun, hitting the horn now- meats pay attention, dogs stop in their tracks.
Cheap bolt-in replacement is the Fiamm Freeway Blaster. Choose the "low" tone if you install just the one horn; no relay necessary. For volume though, the Stebel can't be beat.
Yeah, Frogs- that's my super sano install there...
Had fun with that ever since- lots of folks wonder WTF when they see that gouged out screen. Of course I like to demonstrate the rig.
CAVEAT: I ruined a turnsignal flasher from exposure to too much rain- be sure to find a way to waterproof what needs it, after the install.
Got my horn & relay from Megan and Francois at Dual Sport Touring- look them up online, GREAT folks to know and work with. In Friendsville TN, even.
+1, junkyard horns. Go find a Cadillac, Volvo, BMW, or other high end junk car, pay cheep $$$, getcherself some horn. (I still love my Stebel, though...)
Got my Stebel from Biker Hiway. $55 shipped to the door if I remember, also came with wiring and relay. It's very easy to connect into the factory horn terminals to the relay also. I have a thread on here somewhere about an install.
I've read you can separate the horn from the compressor and locate each one in different places but have never attempted it. It'd be nice to have the compressor behind the fly screen and the horn in the factory location.
I put a Stebel Nautilus on my '06 Uly, and have a Fiamm Freeway Blaster (Low Tone) on my XT. Both are a lot louder than stock. The Fiamm takes up less room, and I got it at Advance Auto for under $15.00. I'm happy with it.
For $8 you can order a horn from any tube frame pre 02 bikes. No relays needed, fits right in and it sounds like a Cadillac horn. I always kind of thought the mo-ped horn was an embarrasing mistake, especially on a Ulysses.
stebel is too awesome, Since i got mine on i ride around scaring people, It is very loud you can't help but try it alot.
mine bolted up with a smaller bolt. I still think i am going to take the air can off and paint it black.
This is the easiest spot (I) think for the relay using the stock mounting screw and tilting the relay keeps access to the rear brake fluid unobstructed.
