The S&S "intelligent" ignition system has a knock sensor. So is this a good hunk a hardware? I grew up with points, & can even tune up a triple set, but black boxes as currently used are pre-programmed with magic curves. Where's the shaving of counter weights to speed up advance curves gone? The aftermarket chevy point plates to replace the quick burning nippendenso points? What happened to... oh yeah it's better now.

Whats the best ignition for a carb bike?

This discussion board exists because of the generous contributions of our sponsors. Our sponsors sell aftermarket ignition modules. Please support the BadWeB sponsors!!!

Seems like most aftermarket ignition systems are useless unless you have a fairly heavily modded engine...like one built for a higher than stock rev limit, forced induction, etc.
Other than that you'll probably spend hundreds for a couple hp.

ECU's...that's a different story.

Thanks guys.
The Buell race module looks good on the dyno charts, power where I'd use it, and I'd either buy from local dealer (who wants me to hop up my bike ) or from Sport Twin. (Blake, I'm on it already bought seat from them)
I thought the anti knock feature on the s & s thing might be good, just worried they use the same module for all H-D v twins.
