Haven’t been on here in a while, guess that means no problems : )

Anyone got an extra x1 clutch cable laying around they want to sell? Or could anyone point me in the direction of a quality replacement? Thanks, mine just sheared at the adjustment bolts, bout time I guess.

I always use the OEM.

Make sure to lube the ferrule at the clutch lever end so it doesn't bind and eventually break from lever action.

Also, make sure to put an O-ring under the head at the primary case to prevent oil leaks. And DO NOT over-tighten it - can't tell you how many brand new cables I've busted by going "just this much more" and snapped it off in the case. Trust the O-ring. Maybe some thread sealant and/or loctite.

Last thing, put a couple zip ties on the rubber cover at the adjuster, to keep them tight and help prevent water intrusion.

All good suggestions by rat. Stay away from the steel braided ones by motion pro or bikemaster. I had two leak at the sheath into the fitting. I’d suggest OEM. I’ve heard good things about the barnett cable. No personal experience.

Thanks for all the info guys! Good to know about the steel braided ones... was kinda eyeing those for no particular reason. Do any of you have the part number for the o-ring or can I just find one at a hardware store? I imagine mine is due for a swap out.

Incoming PM Rick

Lubing cables is a good idea but wont prevent the cable from braking on our Buells. The clutch pull places a bend moment which stresses the strands. Best thing to do is to keep an eye on the cable and If any broken strands are observed replace immediately. I have 3 tubers and have had to do the no clutch disengagement ride home on 2 of them. Very challenging.

I can recommend cables by
https://www.motionpro.com/c/cables
Ride them on my Cyclone for years without issues.
