Say Ratbuell, you might be able to answer this.

You think a 2" M2 cyclone stock exhaust would fit a '97 S1 Lightning?

S-bend headers will fit S-bend bikes.

T-bend headers will only fit T-bend bikes.

An early M2 header will fit an S1, but a late M2 has a T-bend header and they won't fit the early bikes.

And if you were to use the headers that were on the bike now (S-bends) with just the silencer of an early M2?

(Assuming all early M2s were S-bends with 2" headers)

Any 2" exhaust should fit any S1/m2 that has the 2" header. That being said, I bought a used stock exhaust for my S1, and the rear sat about 1" lower than it should. Not sure why. I just made some longer rear brackets, filed out the holes on the front tabs, and try to remember I have less ground clearance when I pull into my driveway.

Cool, I think I've sourced a 2 inch M2 silencer. I'll see if we can make it fit.

The Supertrapp that's on there now, in addition to being way too loud, was kind of welded in place in the most sloppy way imaginable.

I swapped my V&H for the stock exhaust. V&H aren't the loudest exhaust to begin with, but it was certainly nice to switch to something quiet. The bike doesn't have the same grumble to it anymore, so that's unfortunate, and I lost some torque, but it's a fair trade for my ears not ringing, and my neighbors not having to listen to my bike at 7am.
