Hi all

Got a third buell in the garage on thursday, its a 2000 x1, orange with purple frame and pm wheels. Well its apart now! Motor is on the bench cylinder off to check piston gap.

So while i have the frame off are there any things i should check or replace? Bike has 24000 milles, oil pump gear looks good.

Ill probably change all oil lines to braided and change all bolts to stainless if i can find them, other than that things look pretty good.

Thanks for any imput or leads for stainless bolts all i can find is in UK

I'm sure you know a few of these from your other buells, but check the isolators, primary chain tensioner, get rid of the grenade/spring plate in the clutch... other good things to do, but not as crucial... crank shaft oil seal in the primary, new starter gasket, sealant on the starter wires where they come through the engine(next to the starter).

Josh, I think maybe you mean stator wires. One starter wire goes to the battery and the other goes to the handlebar switch.

My stator wire harness was pinched at the factory and developed a short to ground when the bike was five years old. A Drag Specialties Sportster stator has been working for nearly fifteen years now.

I also had mystery misfiring issues until I replaced the cam position sensor.

You're completely right, I meant to type stator wire. The starter gasket was meant to be starter. Typed it on my phone right before crawling into bed, it was either an auto correct or my brain just calling it a night.

Totally Stainless and McMaster Carr sell both grade 8 and grade 5 stainless. There's some other sellers as well, but not everyone will sell you just 1 bolt of a certain size, for example.
