Does anyone know which (if any) fork sliders from other bikes with Showa right way up forks will bolt onto the M2 stanchions? I am guessing loads of 90's and early 2000's bikes had similar Showa forks. Reason for asking is the choice of brake calipers is seriously lacking because of the bolt centers distance that Buell used. Thanks. | ||

Also keep in mind that the buell rotors were (If I remember right) 340mm, while a lot of rotors are 320mm. The slightly larger diameter might limit what will fit as well, not sure if that's a close enough size to still fit, or if it'll cause issues. | ||

Cheers, if I can find some sliders that will fit and the wheel looked OK, I'd be tempted to use that too. Suzuki 1200 Bandit looks promising, 43mm Showa forks, similar pattern front wheel etc.... But nowhere can I find anyone who has tried it out to see if it all fits! | ||

A good resource for swapping parts is www.customfighters.com . I haven't been there in a while, but I used to always check out guys builds. I know there's some threads that list dimensions for all kinds of bikes... like steering stem dimensions and all of that, since parts are always getting crossed on those bikes. It's very possible you can find the measurements for bandit parts on there, specifically the spacing of the triple clamps to see if you could just slide the forks in and keep the right spacing. If not I'm sure someone where could get you some measurements. Plenty of Bandits, and they're a pretty helpful group. | ||

Thanks. That sounds perfect. I will take a look there. To be honest, if I could pick up an entire Bandit 1200 front end, it would be a relatively simple transplant. The front wheel is a pretty close match to the Buell one. I would just have to make a custom set of triple trees or even just a new steering stem and fix up the speedometer drive. |
