Hello all, long time Bueller. In the past I've owned 2 Firebolts, and an 1125. Currently looking at a 2001 M2. 9K plus miles. Since I've never owned a tuber just wondering what important Cyclone/tuber items I should be looking out for. Thanks in advance for info.

Look no further than the M2 for sale by Ratbuell (Joe), in the classified section. Joe a long time Bueller has this bike well sorted at a reasonable price and is located very close to you.

I have had two 2002 M2's and put almost 20k miles on both of them. The '01's and '02's would be my preference for M2's, as most of the bugs were engineered out by then. (Better shifter, oil pump gear, primary chain adj. shoe, rear shock, tachometer addition, and a few other things.) Common problems are oil leaks at the rocker cover gasket and starter gasket. I had a speedo sensor, a starter, and a final drive belt fail along the way, but I consider that normal for the miles ridden.
Look for signs of abuse. I would walk away from one that looks beat up; You can find good ones for only a little more money. Compared to the other bikes that you mentioned, the tube frame bikes will shake at idle and the shifting will feel clunky, but that is part of the charm, or therapy, or whatever you want to call it. Oh, and there is the fuel tank paint blistering thing, but there is plenty of info. on that in other threads.
Good luck.

After I posted above, I looked at the M2 mentioned in the classifieds, and agree that this is a very good price on an M2 with lots of nice features. Even without the aftermarket seat, air cleaner, exhaust, and inverted forks, this would be a fair price for a bike with such low miles and in what appears to be great condition. Those extras would probably cost nearly $2k more if bought separately. For me personally, I would probably prefer the stock handle bars or even the P3 handlebars to get a more upright riding position, but everyone is a little different regarding preferred riding position. Just my $0.02 worth.

I have the stock bars and can reinstall them if you like.

Thank you for the information. That's what I was looking for. I have not pulled the trigger yet.
