So it appears to have been well cared for, Lava Orange, 18k miles, Airforce intake and Wileco exhaust. I have skulked around this forum, great bunch of people and info, but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. My understanding is the 01 is pretty much all debugged for earlier issues, I did see something about oil pressure, but didn't find details on what the signs are. I've been a fan of Buell since they came out, and I think the Cyclone will be a great addition to the 01 RKC I have now. Anything I am missing here? Price is $3k and it looks to be in good condition. I am looking for a rider, the RKC is already a project. My plan is to own both this summer, and if the Cyclone works out as I hope, just sell the RKC next spring. Any input is appreciated from your experiences with this year and/or model. I know it is not a Honda, had plenty of Japanese and a couple German bikes. I like the character and power delivery of twins, just want a comfortable and good handling bike. The ergos might be a deal breaker, old guy with back and neck issues, but it sure looks comfortable.

Sounds like a good deal.
I have an 01M2 and love it.
If you buy it find a factory manual.
Only upgrade you should do is an updated
oil pump gear. Haven't done mine yet but I
Only have 11,000 on it.

I currently have a 2000 and 2002 M2 with over 90,000 miles between them I pull the oil pump every other oil change to check the drive gear for wear so far so good . I think if alignment from factory was good should last. Keep up on wheel bearings and adjust drive belt loose. I am 67 years old and can still ride these all day. good luck

I am on my second 2002 M2 and put about 20k miles on each of them. I'm 55 and prefer the P3 (i.e. Blast or S3T) handlebars that are a little higher than the standard M2 bars. For solo riding I have found the Corbin aftermarket seat to be more comfortable than the stock M2 or M2L seats. Other than one broken belt, a failed starter, and speedo pick-up, the bikes have been reliable. Like most all tubers, the rocker cover gaskets are prone to leak but are easily replaceable. I believe $3k would be a good price for a late M2 that is in very good condition.

I got a 2001 M2 3 years ago. Comfort depends a lot on ones body build and how one intends to use the bike. If your body fits, the M2 is a great all around bike with no mods. If you want to tour (like I do), then you need upgrades for comfort & lockable luggage. I am 5'-7" (5'-8" if I stretch a bit) with short arms & legs. I modified the M2 to fit my body by lowering ~2" with M2L suspension and seat plus adding S3T handlebars. For touring I added S3 fairing and Shad hard cases (wanted S3 cases but am cheap & impatient). The biggest issue for me was hand numbness that was cured by: the S3T bars, bar end weights, and GripPuppies. The M2L seat could use some padding (but I am too short). The stock M2 seat was very comfortable (but puts me on my tippy toes). I have the M2 and a Fatboy, both with touring mods. The Fatboy is more comfortable for long days of touring due to the laid back seating position with back rest (i.e. multiple 8 hour riding days) but the M2 is the ticket for shorter tours and everything else, especially the twisties. Get it and enjoy it!

...and in regards to M2 reliability... I got mine with 46k miles and have added +10k more with the only issue being that a speed sensor crapped out. I still have the kick stand switch (that most seem to bypass due to issues). The only other minor issue is that the shifter bushing requires swapping out every year or so to maintain smooth shifting (along with clutch adjustment). ...and lest I forget, if you are married, the wife may get jealous of the Buellage

I got the used tank cover from BWB'er Zacmac. It was blue and I died it black. It also came with a huge, expandable tank bag that snaps into mounts on the tank cover. A UK company (Bagster) made them but Buells are presently not in their catalog. If you ride hard, change the front motor bracket if it is still stock before you break the front exhaust studs. I run the blast bars and 1in risers - pretty comfortable.
