A happy birthday to Veronica. My favorite roadburner - the White 98 S3 that was never built, the Offender, the one that always starts...

She rolled off the line in East Troy on Nov 19, 1997 and got sent to the west coast. She languished in a showroom until the following August, when a local shop owner blew up the transmission on his FXR right before a run. She was the cheapest thing he could find, no doubt discounted because of the mismatched paint job. He picked her up for cash, strapped his gear on, threw a leg over her and blasted to Sturgis. I first met her there, but didn't see her again for over 15 years.

Years later I found her in a warehouse in San Francisco. Story of her rebuild...

Wow, I can't believe I've been a Buell fan for 20 years also. Saw them in a magazine, test rode in Daytona and bought a '97 S3T, Amazon Green. Nobody on the streets saw one, it felt very exotic at the time. Only source of custom bike photos or aftermarket support was Battle2Win magazine. Paid list price for one, $12-13K at the time! That buys a decent bike now in 2017.I bought my wife an engagement ring and she kicked in a few thousand bucks for the bike. Yes she's a keeper too. Traded the S3T in for a Triumph Trophy in 2003 and went Buelless for a few years until I found another S3, 1800 miles for $3500. I ride the S3 enough to keep it alive, I have a KTM 1190 Adventure and ElectraGlide now for most of my street riding now.Five more years and I'll get an antique tag for the S3, if I want to give up the cool "S3" vanity plate.
