Anyone with an X1 or S3 that could possibly do me a favor? Unplug your speed sensor and with the key powered on..... could you test the white wire at the plug?

Do you get a voltage reading? of so, what?

Voltage on the grey wire should be 12v.

thanks

Not sure of your question. The white wire will be sensor output, so voltage at the harness plug would be ( wild guess on my part) 0v, as it runs straight to the speedo.

Would not be surprised if the speedo is reading a frequency on the white wire, not a voltage. Frequency based on transmission output shaft RPM.

Hope this helps. Don't know if I did. Dave

Yes, it puts out spikes of voltage. Each time the sensor reads a gap in the spinning hunk of metal underneath it, there's a spike. It is a hall effect sensor. The speedo counts these pulses.

I was using a speedo app on my phone but the wind snatched it right out of my clamp.
Spun around in time to see a gravel filled side dump run right over it!!
