I wanted to get some thoughts and source some parts for my X1 Cafe racer build.

I the goal of this project was to take my 99 X1 and "modernize" it and in general take care of year of neglect. Still has a long way to go.

Here are some Pics of what I've done.
Does anyone know where I can source some laced wheels that fit?

Let me know what you think.

looks like you have a mark forged printer huh... here are a couple levers i printed on mine along with a sample lever off the new mark forged metal X printer.

i havnt actually ridden with them though. How they working for you?

I print and test fit all the parts i make for my bike before machining. Works well.

Nice build you have going. Going to be tough finding a set of laced wheels. To my knowledge there was never a laced wheel made specific for the tubers, only the XBs. I was going to have a set of custom Excel wheels built and use a set of gsxr forks with the cognito moto gsxr laced hub and a sportster rear hub.

The Gauge is a knock off of the koso gauge. You could always use the Koso bit its expensive. The one I used is here.

https://www.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Odometer-Speedom eter-Tachometer-Universal/dp/B018RVBWW8/ref=sr_1_2 ?ie=UTF8&qid=1506298881&sr=8-2&keywords=motorcycle +gauge

It's plug and play for the most part. I cut my factory plug off and used their plug to snip my wires and start matching functions. It will support shift light, speed, rpm, fuel light, check engine, turns, headlight, it also has a gear shift indicator and bunch more functions. Most of which only apply to modern bikes.

It can be completely wired in about 6-8 hours, less if you don't have to do all the wire decoding like I did.

Purpony, How hard is it to get XB wheels to fit on an X1? If i need to make caliper brackets or something that's not a big deal.

Well I guess I'll start looking for the wheels and buy them. Then once I have them I'll have no choice but to do it cause I've already spent the money!

If you keep an eye out alot of times you can pick up a complete front end. Then buy a rear wheel. Between Purpony ( mc moto-worx) and Redstang (engineered _velocity) they make all the parts needed.

Its more less a bolt on for the wheels as S1owner said with the right parts. I carry the wheel spacers and modified caliper bracket or i can modify your existing one. I can also modify your triple tree to use your stock stem or you can purchase a stem from RedStang.
You will need XB forks, Triples, front brake rotor, front caliper, rear rotor, and of course wheels.

I called a local motorcycle salvage yard here where I live and they said they have about 12 Buell XB bikes from 2003-2010.

Said I'll have to come up and go bike to bike and see if I can piece everything together.

The guy said generally they sell the complete front forks, triples, caliper for about
$500, Wheels are separate and prices vary.

Might as well do the conversion and if the laced wheels come along in the future then awesome. If not then I still have a bad ass conversion.

Guess I'm doing a road trip on Saturday!

I see you're in Pittsburgh. Is that Cycle Recylers that has all of the XBs? I haven't been out there in over 10 years but used to go browse around every so often when I lived up that way(Monroeville now). Do me a favor while you're there and see if there happens to be any tubers laying around! I'd love to be able to see if I could find a few parts if they have anything I could use.

The X1 looks amazing. Definitely one of the nicest looking X1s I've seen. I didn't even know people were 3D printing carbon fiber now! I apparently have been keeping up with technology haha.

Upthemaiden, It its Cycle recyclers however they do not have any tubers. I remember calling a while back and the guy said they have a guy they call who comes in and gets the tubers as soon as they come in.

Not sure who that is. I know pretty much most of the Buell Tubers in Pittsburgh and their aren't many.

If I recall looking at your bike now I remember running into you once while it was raining, I think in southside. You might have been with another guy who was on an Ulysses. Could be wrong tho.

We should meet up for a ride!

So there's some jerk in Pittsburgh who's hogging all the salvaged tubers?? I'm gonna be looking at everyone I see on the street with suspicion now...

Unfortunately wasn't me or my S1. I bought the bike from someone in North Carolina and I've only had it on the road for about a year now. I haven't made it into the city with it, at this point it only gets ridden back and forth to work every day, with a baby in the house that's all I ever get time for. We're trying for #2 soon so it'll be a long time before I'm taking joy rides again haha.

It is possible we've crossed paths at some point in time though, I used to have an XB9S back around 2010, I know I had been on a few rides with other guys on Buells back then. I used to stop by the bike night in Market Square just to take a look at the other bikes then I'd take off. I remember taking a group ride up to some picnic at New Castle HD with a bunch of Buells as well.

As far as tubers David Uden ( sorry fir swearing) out of Nebraska buys up good or bad tubers and strips them does not matter what it is he is all about profit. I have had my far share if dealings with both Paul is a great guy Uden not so much.

Uden bid and won some parts of mine he then filed to get his $ back saying the parts were not useable while he had the same parts with my pics up for auction for way more money.
