I've found my S1 is a better weekend touring bike than I had anticipated. I'd like to use it more and could use some luggage suggestions for long weekends. I already have a solo corbin seat and a twin tail with Corbin seat. But no luggage.

I'm not a big fan of tank bags. They tend to move around. Is there a tank bag that is solid on the S1 Manta tank.

Soft bags: I doubt there are any that will work with the solo seat. But I might be able to throw them over the twin tail. Recommendations for either seat?

Hard bags: Probably not an option.

Attached is a pic. Any suggestions will be welcome.

Mike

What do you think about a Ventura rack or something like it?
Price is not listed, which worries me.
What about something like a Ventura rack?

Buy my M2 : )

X1 front end, custom painted matching fender, 1125CR mirrors, Pegasus crossroads-style bars, stock bars included as well, Pegasus touring seat, race intake, race exhaust, properly jetted, sidestand switch bypassed, 1 year old tires and only 4k (ish) miles. I think. Haven't ridden it for over a year, it's been in the garage on a tender.

And...full Buell luggage - tank bag (not pictured), tail bag (it attaches to the seat), and saddlebags that attach to the tailbag.

...and before the tires, while the front fender was still being painted...so you can see the race exhaust:

I still have the whole stock exhaust as well as the original M2L front end (this is a L, but the L rear suspension is long gone), that can also go with the bike.

If you really want a Buell with luggage ; ) It's a great bike, I just don't ride the damn thing and with as as work is going these days, I may as well turn a garage space into cash.

Wrong first photo, sorry. That was when I first got the bike and put the race exhaust on it.

Here's the one with the bags:

Thanks for the post Ratbuell.

The pics of the 3 bag system are very helpful.

My S1 with the twin tail is close enough to the M2, the M2 would probably sit in my garage also.

Pretty bike for sure.

I really think that overloaded Ventura racks can lead to isolator failures. Puts weight way far back from where the bike was designed to carry weight.

My theory is based on an ex-S3 that I bought for parts....had high mileage , and records of 4 separate dealership isolator replacements, all on tours far from home. The bike was set up with the Ventura

I could be wrong- could have been a slightly out of tolerance frame or too short a shear pin or something...but I wouldn't run a Ventura with more than maybe 10 lbs on it.

If they were the old style isolators, and you were touring, or riding 2 up a lot, failure would have been very common. The new "eared" isolators are much tougher. I wouldn't imagine it would be an issue these days. FYI - I have a Ventura rack on my X1. Love it. No isolator issues.

well, there you go. It wasn't me having the failing isolators - it t'was the former owner. I've been wrong before...

All my tubers run the latest isolators...

Thanks everyone. The M2 is a great bike and a blast to ride, but I have so many others...it just sits. I'm not complaining, I know how lucky I am to have a stable full of great motorcycles, but the M2 just sits most of the time. I try and ride it at least once or twice a year, but that's about all the exercise it gets.

And honestly...it used to be my ex-wife's bike. Hate to punish the motorcycle for having a bad owner, but...there's still that "reminder" factor. I un-low'd it for myself (she was 5'1", I'm 6'4"), put on the X1 front end, race kit, and changed the bars in the hopes it would erase memories of it being "her" bike, but no luck.

But I think the bag idea might help; not sure if anyone makes a system like that aftermarket but it's a decent system with clip-straps from tail to saddlebags, and straps from saddlebags to passenger pegs to keep them from flapping. Very well thought out, but in all reality it could be fairly easily reproduced, and the only attaching points to the motorcycle are straps that go under the passenger seat, and the straps to the passenger pegs.

That is a seriously pretty S1. I have a habit of painting everything I get hand on black, but I love that molten orange paint job.

"And honestly...it used to be my ex-wife's bike. Hate to punish the motorcycle for having a bad owner, but...there's still that "reminder" factor."

It's understandable. I sold my last house after I got divorced because it was the house we had picked out. It was a great house in a great part of town and I wish I still had it, but what can you do...

That orange bike, isn't that made in Italy with a Harley motor in it? Somebody at work told me that last week.
If it still has that K&N filter on it, throw it away, lots of recent threads on the Triumph forum about them failing at the weld and making a huge mess of things.

Hey Steve - It's still got the Forcewinder but replaced the old K&N with a new one.

Getting it ready for a fall color tour thru The White Mountains and The Devils Highway.

Replaced the oil filter and changed the oil before I rode it Steve. It's a pampered pooch.
