I am now using a stock exhaust on my bike with a K&N style filter element inside the stock airbox on my 99 S3. The bike is running OK, but I think I need to re-load the stock map into the ECM because I had switched from the Borla to the stock exhaust. I have a stupid question about ECM-spy. I read all sorts of info about resetting the TPS and the Air fuel ratio using this program. I cannot seem to find info on whether ECM spy allows me to completely re-flash the stock ECM back to stock settings with a stock map. Is that possible? Anyone have more info on how to get this done. As a backup, I contacted IDS and they will re-flash my stock ECM to stock for $60, which includes return shipping to me. I also tried a couple local HD dealers and they won't touch the buell with a 10 foot pole. One guy told me they aren't legally allowed to work on anything but a Harley Davidson per HD orders. |

Did you reflash the race map? If so, You should have saved your stock map. Just flash it back on. If you don't have it, I have mine on my laptop, I can email it or post it to Dropbox. |

Maybe I wasn't clear in my post. Here are more details. My ECM is stock (ie, its not a race ECM). I purchased my s3 with a Borla exhaust that was installed in 2003 by Suburban Harley by the previous owner. My assumption is that they probably flashed some non-stock map onto the ECM back when the Borla was installed by Suburban HD. I just want to take it back to stock map to match the stock exhaust. I don't currently own any hardware or software to do that. I am just looking at the cheapest and easiest way to get my stock ECM back to a stock map. Whether that means buying the hardware and the maps, or sending it somewhere to get it done. I just want the cheapest and easiest way. I would put also a stock air filter, because with the k&n it will make the bike run more lean |

its not exactly a K&N, but it looks just like one. Here it is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Performance-Air-Filte r-for-Buell-Models-1996-2000-HD-29239-96Y/16127053 2340?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p205787 2.m2749.l2649 |

It's cheapest and easiest to buy the dongle or Buelltooth and donate the $40 or whatever it was to ecmspy, and then you can flash the ecm and do tps resets among other things. Like I said, I have the stock maps I can send and you can flash them and see if it helps. I was in the opposite boat. My bike had the V&H pipe and stock map. It ran lean, would hesitate and skip. All that went away with the race map. |

I'd stick with IDS. Tim & family KNOW these ECMs having been the source for EBR & Buell. Premium customer service. They ARE the singular Buell & EBR Gurus. I did the blue tooth dongle, ECM Spy, etc & flashed tunes purchased for my XB12X & 1125 from another source ... with poor results. It immediately started roasting the clutch cable on my XB12X. Front cylinder way lean. I spoke to Tim about it at Homecoming & he diagnosed the issue spot on. I got a replacement ECM at a terrific price and not only did it solve the melting clutch cable but it runs much better now across the entire range. Next step this weekend is getting my 1125 off to IDS. Something just doesn't feel right since it was flashed. You might have fine results going down the path but $60 buys a shit-ton of confidence & unparalleled Buell ECM experience. Heck, I need to see if IDS recommends an update to my S3 Race Use ECM from '99. DAve |

It is extremely unlikely that a harley dealer flashed a race map onto your stock ECM. First, the equipment they use to update ECMs likely won't allow them to do that, and two, they would have lost an opportunity to sell a race ECM. |

but don't you think they would have had to do something to the ECM when they installed the Borla? |

It's possible to change individual entries on the map, but also very easy to muck up the progressions. Re-flashing the stock map makes sense to me. |

when I bought my S3 it had a Borla, K&N, and stock ECM, and it ran fine. I installed a race ECM and it ran better, but I agree that you likely have stock maps. |
