I think they can work.

Are they just solid brass with O-rings to hold them in place? My bars could really use something to help. It's pretty common for my hands to go numb by the time I get to work. There's so much vibration running through my bike it's even common for my junk to be tingling a little if I don't keep moving in my seat. Hoping replacing my rear isolators this fall will help a little, although I just replaced my front a few weeks ago and actually noticed the vibration getting worse, so I'm not too hopeful.

+ check tire balance and belt to be loose + alignment.and torque all stuff you have worked on to spec. Tires could have cords broke or shifted.Don't take anything for granted.

True dat.
My X1 was vibing pretty badly on the highway. I thought it was the isolators starting to go again.
I was wrong. I had no more balance weights left on my wheels! The sticky stuff let them go. It had been a long long time since I put fresh tires on the poor old thing.
Once I replaced the tires and balanced them, it's back to its old self.

When I was a dirtbike kid, they used to sell a thing called "bar snake".
It was just a chunk of silicone rubber or something that you were supposed to feed through the handlebars.

OOH! they still sell them:

Put weights in and they work 90% less Vibes than before.

You can see them at end of grips. It's a very tight fit.I think 7/8" may work better.

Do they have any kind of threaded hold in the end to get them back out, or once they're wedged in your bars are they pretty much permanent.

Sounds promising, I'm sure I might only get 50% of the damping that you do with how skinny they'd have to be to fit inside my 7/8" aluminum bars. Might be worth switching back to the stock bars.

THEY do have allen screw adjustment come with no directions my 2" bars they were very tight fitting. If you have 7/8" then use 7/8" think it will be a tight fit even using soap as a lube.

I wonder if you could just replace the rubber O-rings with some skinnier ones for a tiny bit more clearance.

If one had access to a lathe here is my idea.
Turn a piece of brass down with grooves for several orings to fit snuggly. Leave the outside 3/4" larger and thread it. Then tap the inside of the bars. I would also have a hole threaded in the center to mount bar end mirrors.

I know some bikes have come with threaded handlebars with bar ends that just screw in. I think the old R6 is the only one I know off the top of my head, and it's entirely possible that's not even correct haha. I know I've seen them though.
