For the 2000 M2, where does the temp sensor connect to? It's not in the manual or any wiring diagram. It doesn't go to the timing module.

according to the image description it wouldn't be shown, This is the Starting Circuit diagram. I think I have a wiring diagram in my stuff that shows which pins on the ECM it goes into. I'll take a look later today

It's not on the larger wiring diagram either.

I have the 8 pin connector and "dumb" module without the BAS and temp input.

The M2 had a temp sensor?
I thought only injected bikes got that.

It has an oil pressure switch not a temp sensor

Are you talking about the sensor on the rear cylinder that is supposed to activate the "skip spark" on some later model M2's?

Yes. Rear temp sensor (not oil pressure sender).

In order for there to be skip spark, there would have to be sensor/ignition interaction. Trying to figure out where if at all this is taking place.

My ignition module has the two connectors, not the single 8 pin. That said, I'm not sure if my bike has the original harness on it or not. While trying to sort out my ignition problems, I unplugged that rear sensor with no change in behaviour. I read something about the feature somewhere, but can't find it now. Maybe try a search for "skip spark"?

If you've got the dumb module, you may not have an input for head temp sensor.

The twin 12 pin module has input for temp sensor and BAS. The 8 pin has inputs for cam position reader, the ignition and the speed sensor.

I'm thinking the temp sensor goes no where.

My 2000 M2 doesn't have a temp sensor in the rear head.
I don't believe they had one. The head is drilled for one, and the FI 2000's had one there, but not my M2.
It might be one less sensor to fail!

You are correct - for a 1997-2000 M2.

However 2001 and 2002 M2's have the 'smarter module', have skip-spark and all that jive because of the twin 12 pin module you mention.

Carburetor..Doh!
Silly me, I thought they were injected same as my S3. I swear I learn every time I log in here.
Sounds like you got a spare temp sensor for the classifieds.

MY 2000 does have the sensor, as well as the twin 12 pin module. But it also has a tach, which I understand was an option on an otherwise basic bike. Perhaps it's a "late" 2000...
