I have what appears to be an oil leak right around the starter on my 2000 X1. There are a few wires coming from the primary and looks like its coming from there? Any suggestions for a fix?

Please and thank you

It could be the starter gasket, or the stator wire. You have to pull the primary cover to fix it.

Two bolts behind the clutch sprocket (don't need to remove clutch to get to them, use a ball allen) release the starter.

The stator wire has a molded silicone plug that's supposed to act as a gasket for the case penetration. Might need to augment it with some RTV.
