Through the years I managed to get my hands on two WP Shocks. Now that I have them repaired I'm trying to decide which to use. Can anyone tell me anything about the difference in these two shocks? Is the longer spring going to be smoother or be dialed in for more weight? I can find references on line to either, but not a comparison. TIA

I posted a similar question but never really got an answer. Other than maybe the one with the threaded front eye may be a later iteration after the supposed front eye failure. The billet plates were on S2s and the stamped plates came along later. I pulled my spring and had it powder coated and then sent it to racetech with an ohlins bump stop that I found that looked close. They have had it three weeks, no quote. I have to say that Racetech was very cool about keeping mine for longer than any vendor should be expected to hold on to customer items. Maybe more than a year? I found the bump stops at Twin Motorcycles. Lots of $$ but I was driven the same way you are to be original. I may have grabbed their last two. The dollar amount wasn't that out of line with the old Buell pricing, but something that expensive should weigh more! I have one bump stop that's tired but can be dimensioned if it will do you any good. Lots of advice to "just turn one", but I don't have that level of expertise and a couple of calls didn't get me anyone that could. |

The longer one is a progressive rate spring. Tight coils at one end and wider coils at the other. I know Penske has the ability to dyno springs and see what their weight rating is. Perhaps you could try something like that to see if they're the same rating or not? |

You guys keep saying top speing when the shocks are side by side? Longer spring shock on left looks to be built better IMO. |

Easy rider, twin motorcycles no longer carries the bump stop. I found a photo online and tried to scale it to an approx size. That's where I came up with the ohlins stop after an intensive google search. If you could shoot me some approx dimensions in millimeters, that would be a help to know if what I sent them was correct. They wound up being about $15/ea after shipping. I bought two for good measure in case I come across another WP for my S2. The one I sent off to racetech will go on my S1 if I ever get it back |

I'm giving you English units but really assume this is a metric part: Outer diameter:1.765 Inner diameter: 1.58 Total thickness: .855 Core thickness: .53 Larger feature: raised .180 from core, 1.32 diameter Smaller feature: raised .150 from core, 1.11 diameter Don't take the three digits as real tolerance. Old plastic micrometer with less than ideal setup. Should get you close, though. |

Thanks for measuring easy. I'm not following the OD/ID. I know it's a 14mm shaft hole, which I assume is the core thickness of .53 you listed. Converted approx. to mm: 45mm OD, 40mm ID, 22mm thick. Raised larger feature: 33mm diameter Raised smaller feature: 28mm diameter The Ohlins bumper is: 40mm OD, 14mm ID, 19mm thick. I think this is close to your measurement on ID and thickness. Sydney at Racetech says a gold valve is available and I should have my shock back next week. I think the gold valve will make it move fluid better and be much more responsive. |

The part is essentially a donut with two smaller diameter spacers molded in, if that makes sense. What I refer to as the core is the donut. The larger/smaller features are the spacers, one on each side of the donut. |
