I just broke a fairly new dealer clutch cable. It broke I think because I made it bend too much - it broke about 2 inches from the lever right where it bends down with the handle bars. I ordered the stainless one from American Sport Bike. Any tricks to installing the cable so that it will not break ?

Are you using the metal cable guide that sticks out from the clutch perch? (I'm not...) There is a cable routing diagram in the workshop manual, is yours like it?
Mine felt like it needed replacing until I put 30 weight in it, and let it hang for a day or two. Now feels new.

I got the steel braided cable from American Sport Bike and it is a lot smoother, is has a coating on it compared to the stock braided cable.
put some syntec gear oil and it works well.

Be very careful mixing coated cables and lubricants. Some don't play well with each other, and you'll end up dissolving the coating.
