Got a leak in the bottom rear left of my fuel tank and I've found two on ebay which I'm getting. Question is, how often do these tanks crack? 2000 X1 lightning , Millineum.

I've never heard of one cracking, other than yours, so not very often.

Can you post a picture of the crack?

Do the tanks come with fuel pumps/regulators?

Is it possibly that the lower seal is not tight?

Could the bike have been dropped and the tank cover changed or did you buy it new.

I personally have never heard of one leaking without some kind of large impact or similar event.

I would remove the tank and pressure check it. Or seal up the holes, submerge in water and see where the bubbles come from.

I suspect however after you remove the tank and perform a close visual inspection you will find the leak is coming from a seal...

Or just purchase a new tank...
