Yeah I searched for quite a while , I struggle with the search engine here. Most I could find was it is High voltage yellow I am searching for ,per Courts posts. I am getting ready to do the S3t fairing and want to match it to the yellow I already have.
Any help would be appreciated..
Mark

You didn't search hard enough, this has been covered many times.

If you narrow down your search to just the Old School section it will narrow down the threads...

I did that and I saw those codes but no high Voltage yellow. I did read somewhere about a yellow then a neon yellow then clear. I think I may just take a piece over to space age and see if they can match it.

High Voltage Yellow
1. Spray 3 coats Sikkens 297 yellow base.
2. Spray 3 coats House of Color 501 Neon.
3. Spray 3 coats Sikkens Autoclear.

But wait, there is more...

You won't be able to cross reference the old Sikkens codes, I tried and numerous others have as well.

I have paint codes and instructions for a yellow base that matches well. It will need shot with House of Kolor neon yellow before the clear.

Basically: 3 coats base, 3 coats neon, 3 coats clear.

I'm away from my pc so I don't have access to the codes at the moment. Shoot me a PM as a reminder, please and I'll be sure to post.

My 96 lturned out great and is a match with NOS bodywork that I picked up over the summer.

Definitely recommend doing all your bodywork at once and not just a single piece. The neon paint is not UV stable and does change over time when exposed to light.

Mark, you are aware that your 99X1 is Reactor Yellow, not High Voltage Yellow, yes?

Well I thought that as well but the plastic is from another X1 no idea what year. According to Court and pictures of High Voltage yellow bikes I believe I have the High Voltage yellow. I have been wrong before though.. m:-)

I think the high voltage yellow was not a color available during the 99-2002 model years, which are the only years they made the X1. It may not be reactor yellow either though. Is it painted, or molded in?

High Voltage Yellow was available ONLY on the 1996 S1 Lightning.

I also think that when the new molded in color plastics became available, the color switched from Reactor Yellow to Sunfire Yellow. If your cover is painted, it is probably reactor yellow.

Sweet! I have a High Voltage Yellow S1, from 1996.

Though to be fair, it's not as high voltage as it used to be...

The very reason that MOLTEN ORANGE spent several months on the roof (the story will be in the next book) of 2799 before it "went live".

After High Voltage Yellow . . . . . and the ensuing warranty nightmare (if one part was bad you had to replace the entire body set since we couldn't match it) . . . .well . . .Buell learned, got better and set the standard by becoming the first motorcycle company in the world to produce motorcycles with no paint and finishes that were as durable as the cover of a golf ball . . .since, frankly, they were made of Surlyn . . just like . . . well, a golf ball.

Buell . . . . hit a hole in one with molded in color.
