Can anyone help me with diagnosing the engine fault light? If anyone had pictures that would help alot I've looked at another thread where it explains it but what exactly is the jumper wire? Could it be like a paper clip from one to the other or does it have to be connected to a power source(like the battery)

I found that using a blue female solderless connector to connect #1 & #2 pins worked well. Turn on the ignition and kill switch and start reading the times the light flashes.

So you just need one wire going from the #1
To the #2 pin then it flashes the code? Sorry I'm a tid bit confused by it

Yes, connect pin 1 and pin 2 turn on ignition and kill switch and wait about 8 sec. The light will start to flash. Followed by a 2 sec gap then flash your second set of lights. Example- 1__4. I believe when the cycle is over that it will flash 6 times in 2 sec. When I first did mine I just kept watching the flashes till it started to repeat itself. 1__4____3__3____1__5____1__4____3__3__1__5. Then I knew the cycle was done.

Copy that then just add all those up and get the code?
I guess I should tell you what the bike is doing when I fire it up it is running SUPER RUFF like the timing seems like its off and everything it's sorta like a boom....boom.boom.....boom.....boom.boom.boom and then she stalls out on me after a minute or so and has a super hard time starting up again.

Now I can't find the dam wire anywhere it's supposed to be under the battery with a cover over it correct? I've got a 2000 x1

mine was under the seat near the fuse panel. Mines a 01 X1.

Thank you I'm getting codes 13-14-15 awsomeeeeeeeee!!! How hard is it to change engine temp sensor and intake sensor?

Did you ever run your bike without the AI sensor hooked up? I did and that's what brought up my code. After I plugged it back in and reset the ECM it never came back. What I'm saying is check the sensors before you start spending money that you don't have too.

Yes I did. I figure I'm gonna need a new 02 sensor and a new engine temp sensor. Would the engine temp sensor make my bike do that? 38500 miles on it and the 02 sensor looks stock

When I start it it struggles and doesn't want to
Start until I give it some throttle and when when its started say if I rev it up to 4k rpm it'll fluctuate between 3.5-4k then when I let go of the throttle it'll stall out.

When I had running issues, I got several fault codes, including the engine temp sensor. Called Al at American Sport Bike for a new one, and he explained that a bad ETS will send multiple codes. Only had to replace the one sensor. They can fail or 'drift' without showing a fail code.

Don't forget to get the slotted socket so you can install the new one. And if you don't already have a service manual, pick one of those up while on the phone. Most important tool in the box . . .
