Been looking for a low mile White/Nuclear Blue for quite some time now and finally found her. '01 w/3700 miles, needs a fuel level sensor and the horn attracts lovesick geese. Got her from the original owner. Bone stock 'cept for mirrors/tail light/chop. No leaks and is a hoot to ride.

Never ridden a tuber before. She falls into corners really fast, like my wife's Monster, faster IMHO than my Blast. Gonna need to get more comfortable before any aggressive corners, I know she can handle it but not sure I can yet, trust needs to be established. : )

And she feels very, very small, petite even compared to the XB and Cr.

Anything I should watch for?

Obligatory pics:

Super stoked,
Nels

Very nice X1. I live in Houston area too. Check the "Houston Buellers" section in "StormFronts". Every so often I try to get a small meetup going but always without success. I will keep trying from time to time.

Very nice. First, get rid of the ugly airbox and left cover. Get some tank accents from American Sport Bike. Then, remove the stock horn from the left side and find a Stebel online. Install it behind the flyscreen. You will no longer attract the geese, you will scare the s**t out of them.

Welcome to the addiction.

Yes, sir. It is. Seattle dealer(don't know which one, didn't ask) installed Jagg oil cooler before purchase. Original owner has the paperwork that came with the oil cooler.

Bike also has polished subframe and swingarm, were those factory items?

I could be wrong but i have not seen an oil cooler as a factory option on the x1.

Neil, an oil cooler isn't necessary for our machines. Actually, it may be a bad thing. You've ridden you're x1 as hard as anyone possibly could. Have you experienced any conditon that tells you you need an oil cooler? XB's have one because the motor is buried.

The previous/original owner purchased the bike new in 2002 in Seattle. The oil cooler was a dealer installed, not factory, option that was done at the time.

While I agree with the experience of the folks here that it most likely isn't necessary to have an oil cooler on these bikes I am unlikely to uninstall it.

As mentioned earlier, the bike has both a polished subframe and swingarm.

Can anyone tell me if those were factory options?

Thanks,
Nels

Factory didn't offer polished stuff as far as I know.
Optional stuff they did offer that I can remember:
"custom paint job" body panel kits
Chrome cover for the rear pulley. (more unsprung weight? sign me up!)
Chrome engine covers with pegasus logos.

I think they had some sort of fan that mounted between the jugs but it looked terrible.

All this stuff was dealer-installable.

The fan option was for Japanese bikes, but was available through the dealer. If you leave the left side air scoop on, you can't see the fan. The S3 fan has a pegasus logo on it, but the X1 fan just has a black grill. Other than that, I believe they are the same.

I wouldn't take off the oil cooler either, as long as it has a thermostat.

with such low millage theirs not to much to bother with other than the usual "pre-flight" inspection.
I found out the hard way to look at your front engine mounts regularly.
also
exhaust hangers and clamps
exhaust nuts
Thats the stuff i regularly check, the rest you will discover in time as it pops up and dont hesitate to come here with trouble-shooting questions.
Congrats on such a sweet find, thats a DAMN nice looking bike.
Oh yea...DONT run it out of gas!!!!!
