I am very interested in your project and wish you well. If you need someone to bounce ideas off of, i would be glad to help. Good luck Steve

yes... my mian problem right now is deciding if i'm goign to bother welding to this cast swing arm and risk a fatigue failure, On a car I would not mind at all... but this is slightly more risky (highly)

I might just make it from scratch to be safe...

Eccentrics at the pivot point is a good idea. Aprillia has used these in the homologation specials for World Superbike and Kawasaki has used them as well in some applications. They are common in Moto Gp. While it may seem as though an adjustment here is just one more thing to get wrong, it is one of the most important variables in bike handling. You can always raise the back of the bike to get more swingarm droop, but an adjustable pivot point allows you to do it without compromising geometry at the front of the bike. This is especially true if the shock length is adjustable or there is adjustable ride height like the Ducati. Twin round eccentrics with an offset hole like sometimes seen at the back axel can be a pain to set. If they are not set perfect it changes your wheel alignment and can mess it up in two planes.. Usually they are an oval insert at the pivot point with the hole offset. You turn them upside down or replace them to change pivot point. If you go round with an offset hole, you also change wheelbase when you make adjustments.

If you make one from scratch you can make it much shorter if you keep the tuber style shock. If it were me, i would give that much consideration.

Oh... maru. No matter what I will be keeping the exact same dimensions of the Tuber shock. I will be fabricating a good 40% of this swing arm no matter which way I go.

And I find cam adjustments amazing to work with. I try to incorperate them into everything I do. When I was building rock crawling suspensions for jeeps, I would put them at every spherical joint. made tuning geometrys so much easier.

This guy welded his vfr swingarm!
http://www.supermotojunkie.com/showthread.php?7054 9-CR500af-super-hooligan-project

and to use the vfr swingarm in combination with the tuber shock you have to weld or let weld a different mount right?
so why not do the whole thing!? shorten it and weld a mount on at once!

I say ,ask someone that have experience with welding aluminum and decide after that!
