i had a previous thread about a problem i was having and the consensus was that my carb needed cleaned or my intake seals were bad. well i fixed those problems and put on a forcewinder and the problem remains. heres the link to my other thread : http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/472267.html?1247713371 help is greatly appreciated. im thinking about taking it in and having someone who knows a lot more about carburetors look at it. The intake seals are tough to get right sometimes. Try spraying WD-40 on one side when the bike is running. If it revs up or down you still have a leak. Try both sides. You may have to clean your carb again. I cleaned mine twice before I dislodged something that I couldn't see. An expert can help you out by listening to it. Can you post a video on Youtube so we can hear it? |

mine was doing this, so I replaced the intake seals, sprayed out the accelerator pump circuit, changed the cv jets(45 slow, 190 main), and softly bottomed out the mixture screw then backed it out 2.5 turns. Now the bike runs like a top. I'm thinkin its gotta be one of those things? -g |

Take all the brass out and let it soak. I have special carb solution. I use about a whole can of carb cleaner when cleaning a carb. Alternate carb cleaner and compressed air everywhere, in and out, back and forward in each passage. Then dry with compressed air. Google Clean cv40 or sportster carb or carb cleaning tips. |

there is a product put out by "BG Lubricants" called 44K. i picked up a S1W that wasn't ridden in 2 years. it would only run on choke and only idle and run over 2500 rpm. with new gas and the 44K i tried to keep the engine speed between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm for the ride home after 45 min of ridding it cleared out and ran fine. it's potent stuff and treats 20 gallons mix it a little on the rich side and put the rest in your car..... you might want to try that before you tear the carb apart again........ |
