After putting a few hundred miles on the new engine it seems I'm building excessive pressure in the top end. I've already blown both rocker box gaskets and replaced the front one, waiting for some experience before I replace the rear. Upgrades include the 1250 cylinders and pistons as well as XB rocker boxes. The rocker boxes came with the plastic 90 degree vents which tie in together at a three way and I have that going into my air box. What's different than the old style terminating in the air box? Is it just the engine being new and tight? I don't think so. Anyone else have this problem after their 1250 rebuild? This is quite a mystery and a puzzlement to me. Should I not run the top vents into the "T" and just run them separately into the airbox, but then again the old ones ran into a "T" in the box. What's the deal? Buellistic I know you're running some kind of set up to relieve pressure, what was it, is it pertinent to this problem? Thanks in advance.

Kyrocket:

"INFO" is on the way !!!

When you set the timing on your engine, where did you place the timing mark, just coming into the rear of the timing plug hole or in the center} ???

MAY THE LONG LASTING BUELL BE WITH YOU !!!

?? That's a very good question. Seems to me I had to back it up to get the mark in the hole altogether. There's some other discussion about this that I read on a different forum. I'm beginning to think the "T" wasn't such a good idea, maybe the pressure is fighting itself between cylinders? Just a thought. First things first is to separate the valves. I received all the e-mails, thanks.

No problems on mine with a 1250 rebuild and xb rocker box covers. I've got mine running into a T approximately 6 inches down the line from each turret valve, and routed into a catch can instead of into the air filter.

Sorry I can't be more help, don't really have any ideas. I wondered if I had too much back pressure on the breathers after blowing intake gaskets every couple thousand miles, but that was with a different breather routing and on the 2000 model. Since the 2002 hasn't had any problems with intake or rocker gaskets yet I'm thinking that my problem was a warped surface on either the manifold or the heads.

Btw on the 2000.. James, s&s, and stock gaskets all leaked after less than 3k miles.

I've also got Cometic, the front one blew first and I pulled the old one out of the former rocker box which I installed around '03 or '04 and it worked like a charm.
