I've got a question about bar end mirrors. I really like the way they look on the bikes I've seen with them.

But can you see any better out of them then the stock M2 mirrors. I have a hard time seeing around myself with them, no matter how much I've tried to adjust them.

Also if I was to order a set of them do I have to drill out the end of my grips to get them to work and what do you do about the old mounting holes for the stock mirrors other then nothing.

Thanks

I removed my stock mirrors and installed some bar ends. I didn't care for them once installed. I do not like anything that makes the bike wider. The mirrors vibrated and worked just OK. I went back to stock for more of an original look and because they work so well

I was riding today trying to imagine what it would be like with the mirrors on the end of the hand grips.

I wasn't sure I'd like them any better then the stock mirrors or not.

I had thought about what you said about making the bike wider. That was my 1st draw back from bar end mirrors.

I hate slapping mirrors with cars.

So did you have to get different grips to go back to stock mirrors after installing the bar ends?

Do they make a cap to plug the old stock mirror hole ? I've been trying to figure how to deal with that if I do switch.

I might get a set and put them on my dirt bike see how I like them.

Thats one thing I can say about the stock mirrors. They are steady... They don't vibrate. I just have to lean to use them which doesn't kill me.

I've got the Napoleon bar ends, and they're rock solid - after machining new internal mounts for them. The rubber expanders they come with barely held them in.

I still can't find an M10x1.25 bolt to put in the original mirror holes, so they're open.

When mounting any bar ends, you can just slice the left side but you have to fiddle a bit with the throttle side to make sure there's no interference.

Man thats a sweet bike you got there Zen.
I haven't seen bar ends like yours.

The only ones I've seen are round.

Thats a good idea to use a bolt to fill the old mirrors hole. duh...

So where did you get your Napoleon's ?

Hey what kind of rack you have on the back ?

Also did you do something different to the license plate area. It looks smaller then mine.

I really like the looks of your bike. Its cool...

You can get the Napoleons almost anywhere - I don't recall where I got mine, but lots of online shops sell them, in black or chrome.

Most M10 hardware is 1.5, not 1.25, but I keep looking for them.

The rack is a Ventura, with the small rack and sport pack installed. There's also a taller rack with a large pack as part of the system. The license plate holder is from Banke.

Thanks for the compliments on the bike!

I removed the plastic plugs at the end of the grips for the bar end mirrors. Once I decided to go back to stock I just purchased some bar ends for like $10 and installed them. Lane splitting was a daily occurrence for me in South Florida, not so much now where I live in Tennessee.

Tennessee...
I'm looking forward to riding to the Smokey Mountains...
Are you any where near around there ?

Thanks for the tips on the bar end mirrors.
I ordered a cheap set off e-bay for 16 bucks.

Figured I'd end up regretting doing so,but thought I'd try them out on my little dirt bike.
(Try slapping trees instead of cars first.)

Napoleons are the ones I'm looking for to use on my baby...
I haven't found any yet.

Some reason my pocket book is drying up..Doh is that a sign of BUELL fever?

OH WoW Fuzzy thats a cool Eye ball you have in your profile. Great link also...
Thanks...

I've got Napoleons on my M2 they came with the bike when I bought it. They have an advantage over any other mirror I've had on any other Harley I had before including the FXR you can auctually see something behind you clearly.

I have the second set that fuzzy pictured, you can find them cheap on ebay.

He is right, they look awesome, but you do have to move your head to see out of them. I like them better than my napoleans which stuck out too far imo.

Wow ...Tripp crashing's not good , but what a way to test out bar end mirrors. Sounds like a good set. Hope you didn't hurt anything else.

Cool Beachbuell, so your not that far from me then. I think Memphis is about 4 hours from here.
My youngest brother went to a bible college there around Memphis.

I've never been to the Smokies, but I hear its beautiful. Will be a nice ride

I have the mirrors that are pictured (the ones not installed on a bike) and I love em. I had the same problemm, I couldn't see around myself. I dont't have that problem anymore. I will post some pics as soon as I can figure out how, it keeps telling me my picture is to big?

My bar end mirrors have very good visibility and uncluttered my forward view. A small draw back is the extra width when trailering and stowing. Overall they are a great improvement. Yes you will need to modify your grips, not a big deal.

I put a set of Napoleon bar-end mirrors on my Suzuki Bandit and found that they are both good and bad.

The good: They give a great rear view and are easy to use.

The bad: They make the bars even wider and that can be dangerous in tight places.

I tried some CRG Hindsight mirrors and they are both good and bad.

The good: They are well made and look great.

The bad: They are too small to give a good usable rear view image.

As a result, I left the stock mirrors on both my S3T and M2.

Stock seems to be the beat all-around compromise for my Buells.

The S3 mirrors are rock-steady and give a great rear view.

The M2 mirrors are also steady but they are narrower so they don't look back as well as the S3 mirrors. However, I use the M2 mostly in town where it is best to set the mirrors to see traffic to the sides and they work very well for that.

I might put the Napoleons on the M2 some day but the S3 will always have the stock mirrors.

The CRGs are pretty but if I don't find a use for them soon, they will be in the Badweb classifieds.

The guy who I bought my X1 from had installed a camera on the license plate frame and a small (about 3.5") color LCD display right below/between the gauges and a pair of bar-end mirrors. I honestly never got used to the set up so I just switched to some aftermarket rectangular mirrors in the stock location. The camera/display set up looked pretty cool but not very practical. More useful at night when there is no sun glare.
