I need some advice.

I want to install an oil pressure gauge on my S3T in place of the clock.

They come in 0-100 PSI and 0-60 PSI.

What is the maximum oil pressure my 2001 S3T could make at top RPM?

My Evo FLH only pulls a max of about 25 at dead cold fast idle. It *may* bump to 35 if I run it dead cold...like when I'm late for work and didn't give it enough time to warm up, LOL.

You are looking at a max of 17 PSI by the book. I would like to monitor mine to see actual.

Roller bearing engines don't need nearly as much oil pressure as plain-bearing engines do.

I will be home tuesday PM I will try to post it by weds night..

I did temp and pressure Aaomy did a billit dash for the project too..

Dj when the mill is cold and you turn it up it will build 40+ psi.. the hd kit gauge ranges to 60 psi,

The temp gauge died of case leaks on to the internals..

both gauges are 1 3/4" size [ BASTARD SIZE ] I am looking at summit gauges, and hand gouging the dash openings to 2"

My Thunderbolt's clock is still working -- but the light has worked intermittently since I got it from the dealer -- oil temp gauge would be interesting. -- Bneck

Is 40psi at startup enough to trigger to the bypass valve in a stock filter?

Fitting gauges:

I used HD accessory gauges sorry no part#s
packages and docs gone.

Oil temp was fitted into the oil return line next to the pump (about 2") using threaded tee and barbs the supplied fittings are largely useless. the sender was 1/8" size

With the sender in the tee's branch and the pump output returning on the run

the gauges clamp in place with a cup or u bracket use a bracket, tighten mounts gently ( ask me how I know )

Most of the photos deal with the dash,
the sender mounts under the oil pressure mount.



the 1/8" close nipple is an error its a hex nipple and is quite thick (wall)

I suggest dry fitting the setup FIRST, then taping and assembling - dont back off of any of the fittings or they will leak.

wire routing can follow the pressure switch, the ground is important, this is the hd spec sender, an automotive sender may be a different size too


Aaron good to hear from you, I hope that you are turning out lotsa cool billit bits..

the kit wiring matches the buell wiring color codes well enough to use as is, I got power from the insturment light circuit.

If you are making a dash consider practicing on a 6$ plastic cutting board

I was not too sure about the clearences so I asked Aaron to cut the first one out of that instead, allowing us to check the fit.





Being the craftsman that he is the plastic part was EXACTLY to the print I determined that the temp gauge had to move out and down and the oil pressure ( small hole center ) also had to go down, the idiot lights are vertical , the key switch pocket accepts both buells switch and the custom chrome switch..

Aarons dash made the job, I just did a decent job of the design and instal.

observations I saw in warm weather about 180f oil temps back to bag, when cold the oil pressures can goto better than 45 psi,
warm you can expect to see about 12~15 psi

the gage is slow to respond to loss of pressure, I recomend that the switch be retained as it reacts faster.
