I just brought home a 99 M2. It got hit in the front and had a smashed headlight and windscreen. I have a spare headlight from a 96 S1 that I tried to put on. I cant get it to bolt up. The headlight brackets on the M2 were all bent up and I straightened them as best as I could. Does a 99 M2 and 96 S1 share the same headlight? Either I dont have the brackets straightened enough or they must not share the same headlight. Anyone know? Thanks

Hi! I think the S1 had a little larger Bosch (same as X1 later) and the M2 had a Hella. I put a 00 X1 light on a 97 M2 which required slotting the brackets a bit. The Hella light housing also changed over time as did the M2 brackets. If you can't make it fit, send me the S1 light and I send you a M2 light.... HTH

Blake's right, not even close. The ears are different sized.
Watch Ebay, there on there all the time, pretty cheap too.

sure the brackets are different. But he has the original brackets on his M2. The S1 headlight (Bosch) will however not fit (deeper housing) unless he is slotting the holes in his original M2 brackets... It is not much...just a bit...and will work.

Cornel,
He mentioned above that the M2 brackets were bent up, I assumed he was looking for a total swap.

Hey Akironic, in case you're interested, I wound up with a completely extra pair of perfect mounting ears for my 2000 M2, they are the same as for the 99. I would sell them for whatever it was I paid for them, it was in the $20-$30 range I would have to look it up.

If you don't have a parts book, if you want, I could scan those pages of my M2 book and email it to you.

The ears changed to a new style for 2001 on the M2, the housing and stuff changed a bit too.
