I have a titanium pin in mine. I take it out of the holster prior to dropping trou.

Yeah. I've been carrying this 1911 for twenty years. I've never had it fall out of a holster until this holster. It's a pain in the ass.

I keep my XDs in a kydex IWB with adjustable retention, from Alien Gear. Love it. Never have had it fall, but can easily quick-draw anytime (depending on how my shirt is tucked in, that is). I've carried it in a soft holster, and in this kydex...and the kydex doesn't make any more bulk. I really like it.

My previous holster for that gun was a synthetic laminate with adjustable retention. That company no longer produces it. The current one is a similar style but in leather without adjustable retention. It holds it well enough, but upside down with a nearly four pound pistol is a bit too much.

It's very unstable due to the high ride style (IWB), so it wants to do a cartwheel over the belt when the belt is loosened. It's just something I need to get used to...or I need to remove the gun every time.

I have a hybrid for my Beretta 92 that has poor retention...but unless hanging upside down it stays put. The holster itself is very stable.

Yeah. I have a little one, too. I like the big guy better.

I found that the screws fastening the belt loops were loose, too. A little loctite should permanently fix that. No leather holster should ever have screws

Best holster I've found is the Triple Tee holster. Got it at a gun show in Houston Texas. It's like an Alien Gear but instead of a soft plastic backing, it's a heavy leather with two belt clips. Has a Kydex shell to hold the gun. Its a little hard to put on but once it's on, you barely know it's there. I carry my Glock 26 and my son carries his Glock 19 in his. Recommend it without reservation.

It depends which Alien you get.

I have one, that is a leather backer with the kydex attached.

I have a later model, with improved clip hardware (no screws, just a 3/4-turn dzus-type connector), that has a thin sheet of stainless for shape, encased in heavy neoprene.

For sizing/weight/intrusion purposes, they're nearly identical. A lot of sitting and I prefer the leather, as the lower edge 'curls' more to get out of my upper thigh. Against the skin, I love the neoprene. Over an undershirt, I can do the leather. But...the leather creaks sometimes. Tactically, not the best. Nor for discretion. But either way, daily wear in a pair of Dockers slacks and a tucked-in oxford shirt...and the only "giveaway" is if you know what those two clips are for. I have "C" clips that go inside the belt, but I've found they actually stick out further than the standard clips do. Either way, though, no jacket required, no "out" shirttail required.

I am thinking of a project gun. I've had my eye on a 1911 commander with an ugly finish.

I am thinking of putting this finish on it:

Small thing, but it was time consuming. I modded the base pads of some 92FS mags to fit the 92S properly. They stick out the front 1/4, otherwise.

Did you also notch it at the base so the mag release works?

Not only is it an iconic pistol with a well proven design, they are accurate and a joy to shoot.

This thing was $300 and a crazy good shooter.

The FS mags still have the notch. M9 mags do not.

Ah... thanks for that. I had to notch a couple of mags myself... made a mess of the first one with sloppy dremel work. It still locks in place just fine, but looks like hell. Can't see it when it's in use, so no matter.

My 66-8 holster.
20191105_074532 by Slick_Rick77, on Flickr

It's okay...but not perfect. The snap unsnaps with the lightest pressure, however it has yet to happen inadvertently. It's lined, which the rear sight has dug into and damaged. I'd prefer it unlined. It seems to have been molded with fixed sight guns in mind. The leather isn't the best quality, either...but it's functional. I'm a little disappointed in it, but it's hard to find a retention holster that accommodates a medium frame hammerless snubby.

I just saw an ad for the CMMG 10mm carbine, and apparently you guys have corrupted me, because now I want one! ; )

Preferably the pistol version. The short barrel that is a detriment in rifle calibers ( but still useful at reasonable ranges ) is a long velocity booster in pistol cartridges.

My second thought was "what a great deer gun!" especially in local hunting where most shots are close in dense brush. But capable for those across the field 200 yard shots where a 12ga. falls short of ideal.

Also, locally rifles are restricted for deer. If I go 2 counties south, rifles are legal for deer, but not here. Pistols are legal and 10mm out of a foot long plus barrel is more than adequate for humane hunting.

Oh, and "that's pretty handy in a hallway" was thought # 1.

Uplifting ending to that family crisis.

I decided to break in my holster for my LCR 22. While at it I put some rounds down range. It was all rapid fire at about seven yards.
20191105_190712 by Slick_Rick77, on Flickr

It's a good gun for when I'm too broke to shoot 38 Special...though I carried two 38's for backup

One miss.

That's 87 rounds as fast as I can shoot 'em.

I've decided to condense my AR's.

My 7" 5.56 is getting parted out as it's always been a range toy. The guts from the 4.5" dedicated .22 are going into the leftovers. It is my favorite gun to shoot...but is pretty damn impractical.

The S&W 15-22 will be sold as it's kind of redundant, as much as I like it.

I'll be putting a different muzzle device and an old school aluminum free float tube on the 16" AR in an effort to lighten it up and shorten it further. It currently has a steel FF sleeve with handguards atop it and a combo brake/flash hider.

I'll have enough spare parts for another gun with just a barrel...but the GF says she don't want none.

Rick, The S&W 15-22 triggered a memory in me. The local gun store in Northern Illinois had an S&W 15-22 on the wall for a long time. It was the purple and black camo model. I really liked the look of it. Now I am thinking about purple camo cerakote on my AR.

Just so we understand the billionaire's desires to rule you in context.

1. A Nazi style database of all gun transactions, sales, gifts, etc. So that the violent Party mob may be precisely targeted as was done on Kristallnacht.

2. Lie about what he will forbid the oeasants, you, to have.

3. Pretend to create new laws that duplicate ones that have existed for decades.

4. Ban magazines that have been normal for over a century.

5. Ban gun shows. And presumably any meeting of Citizens he dis!ikes.

6. Create a huge list of Americans he doesn't want to have any rights. Own guns, at first. Buy tickets, rent cars, get loans... See China Social Credit Terrorism.

7. Cancel civil protections against being declared a criminal in secret courts. Encourage Informants to report his enemies.

8. Don't allow equal rights. Balkanization. Divide and conquer. Violate Constitutional rights across State Lines.

9. Deny rights at arbitrary locations to protect criminals and violent agitators.

10. Deny rights to specific, arbitrary professions. At first.

11X. Unspoken but true. Ban all weapons for everyone but his personal, chosen, troops.

And he's the "reasonable one".
