A picked on in High School motivation theory.

It’s now conceivable that a young person coming of age today could live in the same one-bedroom apartment for the rest of his or her life, never needing to leave, having every material necessity hand-delivered to them by a low-wage Amazon driver. Almost a quarter of millennials report having “no friends.” With Minecraft, Call of Duty, Uber Eats, and Reddit, who needs them?

Yes, Ned, knock it off. Even the left leaning web site snopes says it’s fake news. You’ve been duped. Maybe. Most likely you know it’s fake but posted it anyway as a balm to your derangement.

Well, they starve for attention and go murder people if you don't.

Imagine how many lives would be saved if more people told the trolls to go masturbate. They get off on this, and being incapable of polite conversations, without caring human contact they join Incel groups and just fill up with hate. Tragedy results.

Consider it a public service. Life saving!

And, as the old story goes, "Maybe the horse will learn to talk".

Let's remember, also, that in the former Soviet Union, to criticize or even to so much as disagree with the government was, in and of itself, proof that a person was "mentally disturbed."

https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2019/08/p roposed_gun_laws_would_do_nothing_to_prevent_mass_ killings_and_everyone_knows_it.html

Not mentioned is a law from the late 1800s that mandated all fire arms be of "military grade". The purpose was the same as the other "Saturday night specials" laws, ( at least 2 more waves after the one I'm discussing ) to make guns too expensive for poor people and, especially, black Americans.

At the time, the technology was such that you would be required to buy a top of the line Colt or Remington, not one of the millions of single shot cap & ball pistols made before the turn of the century.

In 1968, it banned such fine guns as James Bond's Walther PPK. Using an utterly arbitrary point system. Just as later Assault Word bans use a laundry list of seemingly arbitrary items, but are in fact legal trap features. ( don't know a polite word for sneaky evil in this context )

One example in the N.Y. SAFE act is the wording banning guns with...handles. It seems like an arbitrary ban on pistol grips, but it's not. Bloomberg had a very well paid team of lawyers write that Unconstitutional bill, passed in the dead of night, with no public knowledge until it passed, by Executive Order of the Governor, to eliminate both a run on the stores and any public protest.

In the SAFE act, it's carefully phrased to ban any feature on a firearm that makes it easier to hold or shoot. So it bans stocks, grips or anything your hand may touch while using a gun.

Just because they haven't to my knowledge invoked this reverse loophole, yet, means nothing, you don't write traps like that into a law unless you plan to exploit them.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/alarmed-by -shooting-sprees-shoppers-turn-to-handguns-conceal ed-carry-permits

This seems to be a natural progression to me. And, frankly, I'm all for it. The more of us are out there, the less likely people are to get "freaked out" or "triggered" by the presence of a firearm.

I was out with friends last night at a local winery, just hanging out in the nice weather. Guy in line in front of me had a compact Sig on his hip - no badge (typically LEOs in this area will have their badge clipped to their belt next to their firearm, if they're not in uniform). He was wearing casual clothes, just open-carrying his pistol. Nobody flipped out. I started a nice conversation with him, asked if he was Law Enforcement, commented that open-carry was a bold choice in today's climate...we just got along and chatted while we waited in line.

In Maryland - the People's Republic.

Granted, this state does not distinguish between open or concealed carry - we get a "wear and carry" permit that allows either, at the person's discretion. He's honestly the first person I've seen - non-LEO - who open-carried.

I suspect he won't be the last.

As the end of the article says - it's a shame that it's because of fear, and not enthusiasm, but regardless - the more trained people in these situations, the better. And, potentially, the more outcry against soft-target "gun-free zones". It sucks that it's come to this, but...

I've been moving towards making the Sig P938 my primary carry pistol. I even bought one of those trigger cover things for pocket carry.

When I carry my P227 I figure everyone can see I have it unless I have on a winter coat. It is a little on the large side. My primary concern in choosing a piece to carry is my accuracy with it. That is the why for keeping the P227. Within 20 yards the P938 will easily hit a fist for me. Open carry is a big choice for me now days. When I was younger I just put the holster on at the 3 or 4 o'clock and went. After CC in Illinois, I think about it. My reason for open carry is my access to the firearm. My reason for CC is other's access to the firearm. I know that I am much more vigilant when open carrying. In a perfect world I'd carry my AR every day. Of course in a perfect world a 50 round plastic box of Stinger .22LR would just drop into a firearm like it was a magazine.

Is anyone else fascinated with the FN57?

I went with the XDs because it is so compact - but while being a compact, it still feels substantial in the hand. Flush mag is 7+1 and I have a backup extended mag at 8. When my belly band arrives you won't even see clips! It really is totally invisible - people who know I carry, don't even see it. Shorts, tee shirts, no problem.

I am going to look hard at the P365 though, once the new job's paychecks start coming in. I like the size...AND the capacity. We'll see how it shoots for me - the XDs is dead-nuts consistent for me using either the iron or the laser, hopefully the Sig will be as nice!

FN57 is handicapped by ammo cost & availability. OTOH if you reload a keg of powder will last a long time, I suggest checking the books for one of the 223 copper cleaner powders.

Ballistics are marginal for deer hunting, ( my rule of thumb for defensive use ) with polymer tip premium ammo as the preferred choice. The original intent for the round is penetrating Soviet armor in a machine carbine. That ammo isn't readily accessible to civilians, and the need isn't there for most of us. If you are using the Stargate with approval, they probably just issue the armor piercing stuff to you, and the short barrel carbine. I doubt the pistol will penetrate Jaffa armor.

The big question beyond it's relative uselessness and high ammo cost is will your hand fit the grip? It's a long cartridge & magazine.

Review. https://www.ammoland.com/2016/12/fn-5-7-pistol-rev iew/#axzz5wDc5pV4A

Very positive review!

For plinking & defensive use the Keltec PMR-30 might be a cheaper alternative.

Neither is available in NY with standard capacity magazines.

I love the 5.7 guns, but both feel "cheap" in my hand.

I had the chance to play with a ar57, which is a dedicated upper that uses the PS90 mags and ejects downwards through the normal AR magwell. Fun gun!

The Five-Seven and PS90 are handicapped by lack of availability of the ammunition they are designed for.

May as well get a PMR or CMR-30 at 1/3 the price. Those are fun guns to shoot. Still rather have a 9mm.

Speaking of...I finally took my trench gun to the range. It shot about 6" high with slugs at 25 yards and the heatshield wants to slide off with such heavy loads. The apparently soft screws that secure it got squashed. The stock also chipped in a spot. All rather disappointing. Hopefully it patterns well with buck. The stock is an easy repair. The screws are a minor annoyance. A coworker wanted to buy it.

To keep the theme I carried my Model 22 45ACP revolver, which for all intents and purposes is a commercial 1917 with a shrouded ejector rod and shorter barrel. The shrouded ejector rod is a liability if down in the dirt, sand, and mud. For my purposes it has to deal with some lint.

On the other end of the spectrum I fired my 7" 5.56mm AR pistol the other day. It's easy to shoot, and is a riot. I was laughing when I was done. It is stupid fun, looks ridiculous, but is an effective PDW within a few hundred yards.

Another 4" of barrel on the AR pistol and you are on to the formula for the GAU-5. And still a riot to shoot. I use a GearHead TailHook Mod 2 on mine. It is adjustable.

I am still wishy washy on the FN57. The big grip doesn't bother me with the light weight and light recoil. The ammo price irks me. I like having at least 1,000 rounds on the shelf for every firearm. And yes, not having the ammo that makes it what it was designed for is a negative.

If You had a PS90 carbine/PDW then the FN57 makes sense as a companion pistol.

I loved the P90 used on the Stargate shows, but it's not available in NY. And the PS90 is really pricy and limited to 10 round mags downloaded to 7, pretty much takes away any utility and most of the fun factor. I regret not buying one before the ban, but not too much. For that reason.

If you live in a temporarily free State, then you'd get more out of one, and then you have to balance fun, cost, & ballistics.

Cost and availability makes the .22 magnum choices from Keltec worth considering. IF they are available to you.

If you are in a Regressive State, ....

Unconstitutional and silly arbitrary gun laws have unintended consequences. The Clinton Assault Lie law led to lots of .45 pistols, because if I can't carry 14 9mm, then 7 .45 makes sense.

So a 30 shot .22 magnum makes sense. A 7 shot .22 magnum ( the same gun, size & all ) not so much, I'd just as well have a 9 mm or bigger. And in a smaller, easier to carry package.

Today & tomorrow it depends on availability, and legality.

I love that I'm in the company of like minded individuals. With our current state of affairs and the increasing push for another AWB after the first one that did nothing, what are you currently in the market for?

If you have $3,000.00 right now to buy something that's on the long list of items to be banned, what would you be going for?

I have a shockwave, a 9mm AR pistol, 10.5" AR pistol in 5.56, an AR carbine in 5.56, a 8.5" ar in 300 AAC, a spare AR receiver, and the AK shotgun.

1. SPX 930 Jerry Miculek edition since any semi auto non-hunting shotgun is usually on the list.
2. AR10.
3. Nicer quality AK
4. Bunch of Pmags and ammo
