Just found out that my sign has been defended by the 1st Amendment.
Its no more considered intent as a sign that says "Beware of dog".
AND
since it has fake bullet holes painted on it,
its also a parody.

Doesn't the FS magazine have the notch halfway up the body? My 92S has the notch down low...

The results are in. I don't mind the Star and love the Beretta.

Save for some speckling on the grip frame the Beretta was in better shape cosmetically and mechanically. It looks to have been used very little. The Star rattles and has the signs of use consistent with an old warhorse.

The Star had a good trigger, but I found it tough to shoot and it recoiled more than expected. That's probably due to its very slim frame. It needs that sight drifted some.

The Beretta feels solid and shoots smooth. I was quite impressed with it.

Nice! And darn it, better shot than me.

Stars are better than the rep. The Spanish gun making tradition & companies are almost as old as Italy's.

Baretta wins oldest by a good bit, unique in the continuous Family ownership. The valley of guns makers in Italy is on my List of tourist must sees.

The Spanish companies ( also in one geographical area ) have changed names & merged as you'd expect over literally centuries, and the quality varies from ok to top notch.

Yeah, they make "copies", but the Spanish inventors often improved them. Sometimes to simplify production, and often to fix weak spots.

The extractor on Rick's Star, for example. Even Colt, much less American copies, has had issues with the original John Moses design. His is elegant, clean, and fussy, from a production view. There's a reason few guns ( any? ) use that design.

The unknown smiths who worked for Browning deserve more credit. He would walk into the shop with a sketch and tell his machinists "make it this thick, and this wide" showing the dimensions with his thumb & finger. " Yes, Sir! " and at the other end of his shop.....The best machine gun ever made. ( or shotgun, pistol, etc. )

And deletion of grip safety. I like them, but others don't and the original was by demand of the Ordnance Dept. & not liked by Browning.

Imho I only notice a grip safety if it sucks. And making the big beaver tail (good for hammer bite & slide cutting ) as the design of the 1911 was customized sometimes made the grip safety not work, especially as techniques & training emphasized a high grip on the gun. Some of the late '70s custom shop guns had the issue that you'd draw, aim, and no boom. That's a fatal flaw.

( folk like Brown got it right, though, and the good clones, even from Colt, steal the best fixes for that problem )

The Star is certainly not the best example I've come across. The Beretta is mechanically really nice.

I'm probably going to sell off a couple revolvers I don't shoot much and replace them with something I can carry as well as buy a few accessories I've been wanting.

He knows he's lying or he's the most ignorant guy to be given a law degree at Harvard.

Since his college days are "sealed" at an apparent cost of million$, ( paid by? ) I can only assume his degree was completely unearned, like graduating an illiterate from high school to move him out of the way and out of their hair. Maybe as a foreign student program paid by ( Saudi Arabia ? ) he just got a pass? This time was before his publishers advertised him as an American success story, the immigrant from Kenya who became State legislator in Illinois. ( the apparent origin of the Kenya rumors )

In any event, he blatantly lies to take your civil rights, just as he lied about Mexican gun running before his AG, Holder, ran the actual criminal gun running operation. To fake his lies "true".

Evil, horrid, man.

So a hypothetical.

National Parks, as of 2010, allow legally-licensed persons to carry firearms on park property.

There is a park outside DC called Wolf Trap, advertised as the "only national park specifically for the performing arts", and they do some good concerts (such as Sammy Hagar, which I attended last night - Sammy, Jason Bonham, Michael Anthony, and Vic Johnson - GREAT show!!).

However, the park rules say that while licensed persons may carry on park property, the actual concert venue (The Filene Center) prohibits firearms. Is this simply a matter of private property preference and you can be asked to leave, or get a trespass charge? Or is this a legally-binding no-carry/felony zone?

Discuss...curious to know everyone's thoughts.

Kewl.

I've decided to spruce up my PSL to make it a bit more transportable and SVD-S-ish with a folding stock, a shorter combination brake/flash hider muzzle device, and adapting an AR grip.

There are approx 250,000 legal firearms license holders here in NZ, not 150,000. Small figures compared to the USA but significant as we are voters too, which our Government seems to conveniently forget. Responsible gun owners/users like myself are being treated like outcasts and criminals and the MSM here is extremely one sided with an agenda it would seem. I wish we had a constitution like you guys in the USA. Value your 2nd amendment and protect it at all costs.

We have a myriad of laws and hoops to jump through as legal gun owners. The appearance of freedom is largely a visage.

We've had:
• National Firearms Act (1934)
• Federal Firearms Act (1938)
• Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act (1968)
• Gun Control Act (1968)
• Hughes Amendment to the Firearm Owners Protection Act (1986)
• Undetectable Firearms Act (1988)
• Gun-Free School Zones Act (1990)
• Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act (1993)
• Federal Assault Weapons Ban (1994–2004)

despite our Constitution as well as a myriad of ever expanding rules and regulations by regulatory fiat.

Little bro has it now, with 40k plus miles. still a "push button".

Pretty sure it's in my file already along with my calling Barry a weasel. But there is no need to ruin your nice folk's day with my frustration at perceived wrongs.

Have a great day. I have to get the ridge of my roof fixed, as it is blowing off.... Hence the overflow of angry words. Mutter. Mutter.

Roof fixed, gout responding to Advil ( liquid caps, much less tummy upset than tablets ) & tractor repaired. ( although $159 shot on unneeded new battery )

So I present to you a land where the city snowflakes are bewildered by the country men & women simply ignoring the New confiscation laws on guns.

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-06-10/kiwis-ju st-say-no-gun-ban

And... Had a chat with a Deputy of Redacted County about the above report. ( at the range, appropriately enough )

He laughed. He's sure his department has no plans to execute Governor orders to kick down doors. More guns than people in Redacted County, and every Gadsen flag indicates to him a 4x4 and/or boat owner that come out of the woodwork every storm and flood to back his dept. He's one of us, so to speak, and knows we're on his side.
