Neat. Seems long overdue.

Still liking this modernized version of the venerable old govt round:

"In my CCW class, we were told "there is no such thing as an accidental discharge.
They are all NEGLIGENT discharges." "

This is what I was taught as well.

I feel the same about automobile "accidents".

And, honestly...most car-and-motorcycle "accidents".

I've had plenty of incidents where "they didn't see me". I have yet to get hit...because *I* saw *THEM*, while they were in the process of not seeing me.

Bought a Universal .30 carbine when I was 19 to hunt Texas white-tail.
I was disappointed to find out it was only good for varminting in Colorado.
Then I saw the size of the deer and elk here.

That's my biggest straight-wall... oh wait, the .44Mag Mod 94 is a straight wall... never mind.

The driver of the only car I've ever collided with said something to the tune of "he wasn't there last time I looked." You don't say?! It would be prudent to check before changing lanes EVERY TIME.

Some of the things I see at ranges/gun shops still horrifies me. Some people lack what should be very basic common sense handling skills.

Lately it's been keeping loaded guns in the holster on the shop floor.

“they came out of nowhere” always gets me. No, they didn’t. You just weren’t paying attention.

On topic, I bought a 9mm barrel and magazines for my 40 p239. Haven’t made it to the range to check it out yet. Looks like I’m rained out of yard work. I may go today.

Lately it's been keeping loaded guns in the holster on the shop floor.

As in...display pieces/inventory? Or wear-and-carry customers?

The first makes no sense.

The second...well....why would they empty their firearm just because they're in a gun shop? I don't clear my weapon when I walk into the gas station...or the range. Kinda defeats the purpose.

Lately it's been keeping loaded guns in the holster on the shop floor. At my place they are in a holster to indicate they are loaded. I'm not sure what your shop is.

People that bring in loaded holstered guns to a gun shop or range have a disturbing trend of removing said loaded guns from their holster for no good reason. Keep it in your damn pants. Nobody wants to see that.

Shop or no shop, mine comes out of the holster to clean, or to fire. If I have a question at the shop, it gets pointed at the ground, mag ejected, chamber emptied, slide back, and placed on the counter port-up.

Usually, though, people (including the instructors) don't even know it's on me.

Just the way I like it.

If I have a gun that needs shown in a gun shop, I unload it prior to bringing it in. I prefer to present it in a box, no mag in it, no ammo present, and with the slide locked open.

True, if it is a planned service visit it arrives empty and in the factory case. If it's a case of "oh yea, I wanted to ask you" - or, in the case of the 'smiths at my shop who always have ideas - "hey, lemme show you something on yours that I just learned we could do..." - then I treat it as if I'm making safe on the range.

"Usually, though, people (including the instructors) don't even know it's on me."

Most of my friends and family gave up wondering whether I'm packing a long time ago. If I am, I'm usually so discreet no one knows. If I'm asked directly, I tell them if they must know, to either call a cop to ask me, or begin a seriously violent act.
The exception to that is If I'm visiting at their home, as a courtesy to my host I will inform them if they ask. It seems the respectful thing to do, but I've only ever been asked once.

I don't ask and usually don't tell. As I take every gun to be loaded, I take every human to be armed. Have you ever seen what can be done with a rolled newspaper?

I agree with the don't ask don't tell mindset, but I don't mind (if directly asked) being truthful with friends in the privacy of their own home. That courtesy however, does NOT extend to their other guests.

Having worked for lawyers for many many years (glad that's over with!) that doesn't surprise me in the least.
They always trying to figure out how to answer a question to put them in the best light.
I thinks its because they're mostly unfeeling, unnatural creatures.
Kinda like career politicians.

https://www.yahoo.com/gma/police-seize-thousands-g uns-piles-ammunition-los-angeles-052029825--abc-ne ws-topstories.html

At the end of the video they show a white pickup full of boxes and cases. They made a great big pile of guns for a media Many shoot. I bet many were LNIB and probably held an FFL if he was buying and trading a lot. I see a lot of 10/22's in the pile. SO EVIL!! It hardly seems like the guy was really committing any crime. JUST BS

Isn't there a limit as to how many guns you can sell annually before you are considered a "dealer"? It could be that he did not have an FFL and was trading/selling/pawning guns in violation. The number of guns in his home is irrelevant, obviously, especially the broad span of types/calibers/configurations in the collection. If he had a thousand MP-5's, it would be slightly more interesting or newsworthy, but not more illegal (unless he wasn't a Cat 3 dealer, of course...)

If one is collecting items that ride the borderline of legal and social acceptability, wouldn't one be extra-circumspect in anything having to do with them?

(The People's Republic Of) Maryland allows you to purchase one handgun every six months...unless you apply for (paperwork process only, AFAIK) "collector status".

Not sure about dealer licensing...

The news I read on that "bust" in LA said there were several full auto things in there.
Was he charged in any actual crime?

Shall not be infringed.

The legal issue is they claim he sold guns illegally. The display for the press is propaganda.

several "full auto"...uh-huh. Like "assault rifles"?

I trust what the press says...oh...about zero. Most of them think a semi-auto (fires every time you pull the trigger, then loads another round) is "full auto".
