I think it will be near miraculous if we actually figured out how to charge "Mexico" for a border fence, but that's not the real point here.

Many Trump fans say you listen to what he means without getting too hung up on the exact wording. With that filter he's fairly honest, a braggart, and full of crap, but not fundamentally dishonest.

Trump haters point out that he's wrong on diplomatic bureaucracy language, a Lot, and makes many promises no one can keep, and is therefore, a dirty stinking liar.

I understand, and partly agree with both views. But don't buy either as is.

Points well stated. Even so, I see Trump as one of the more honest politicians we have today. Of course, I did recognize that Mexico was never going to actually write a check to the US to build a wall. It would have been a mind boggling achievement, but never expected it to happen. The simple reality is that proper border enforcement, whatever that looks like will save the US many dollars, and cost Mexico many dollars. The same effect as if they stroked a pen on a check. Given Trump's love for hyperbole, assuming you are intelligent enough to understand it, Trump is pretty damned honest for a politician.

I fear that at some point (very soon) that the young people will get exactly what they want. Utopian society where there are no guns or borders. Just to end up like Venezuela. And I fear that President Trump is caving to the Dems with his offers. Build the barrier(wall)now when we still have a chance. I know the young will figure it out as they get older and will be thankful.

I think your second sentence there is a contradiction. A lack of (legal) guns, and a lack of borders...will likely result in anything BUT utopia. Just wish people would figure that out before the death, famine, and crime waves hit...

Looks like the SOTU is canceled again. Must be Nancy's version of canceling the airplane. Of course, her trip was not necessary business. The SOTU is mandated by the Constitution. Trump can deliver it from where ever he chooses if he's not invited into the house of congress. Do it from the oval office. There will be no sit down protests from childish dems. No photo ops for them either. Simply forcing this points out how childish Nancy is being. It will also give Trump the bully pulpit without distractions from the idiots. Possibly the best thing that could possibly happen! No doubt the press will be on her side, but she seems to be losing the chess game badly. The public is going to be getting really pissed soon, and she making many unforced errors.

It is amazing that Speaker Pelosi refuses to put the State of the Union invitation to a vote. She clearly knows the House would override her. Only by being a petty dictator blocking the vote can she prevail. She and Maduro in Venezuela can compare notes.

Smart. He plans the SOTN address to be a victory speech. And he's got all the victories except the Wall.

And he doesn't care if Mitch McConnell has screaming mobs blocking his office. I don't think he likes Mitch much anyway.

So despite personal reasons to Want the pretend shutdown over soon, I want to see the RIF more, and I really want to see the Capitol figuratively explode if The Game Show Host pulls the plug on the Swamp with massive cuts with a legal Reduction In Force.

A meeting with the Federal employees Union heads, where Donald tells them to go threaten... I mean.... Encourage Nancy & Chuck to end the siege might be profitable.

The longer the "shutdown" goes on, the more the public sees how much they don't need the government, but when tax return time comes, and Donald points out they are getting more of their own money back, thanks to His tax reform, or they would if Nancy wasn't insane, and all those planned vacations and home improvements have to wait on Her...... There will be Marches.

Well-played. And cost him nothing.

Progs and NeverTrumps celebrate Trump postponing SOTU at their peril
Thomas Lifson - American Thinker

[snip]

Even before Trump's next steps (and Trump always has next steps in mind) play out, there are several takeaways.

Trump has ensured that his next SOTU, whenever it takes place, will get a huge television audience. He will address the nation with Nancy Pelosi sitting behind him, her facial expressions on view. He will have the option of turning around and directly addressing her, on whatever points he wishes to make.

Trump has also given the lie to caricatures of him as "impulsive," "reckless," and likely to blunder us into a nuclear war, views held as gospel among the NeverTrump faction of putative conservatives. He has done what wise leaders and generals do when confronted with an unexpected enemy move: he has read the terrain and order of battle and concluded that the odds do not favor him on the enemy's newly defined terms.

Trump has removed a huge distraction from the real battle, over the border barrier, and the Dems' refusal to fund the federal government with a physical barrier funded. They are stuck with the position of telling federal employees that it is more important to prevent obstructions to illegal entry by foreigners than it is to pay them. They are stuck with the fantasy that walls are outdated, and useless, something so stupid that only an intellectual would believe it. Trump has a wining hand, and time is on his side.

Trump has reaffirmed his commitment to constitutional governance, including the specifics of executive, congressional, and judicial power. This is crucial, because both the legislative and judicial branches have disregarded their responsibilities and limitations, and Trump has many fish to fry when it comes to challenging them on their power-grabs and defaults (federal district court judges in Hawaii overruling presidential prerogatives in all 50 states and Congress defaulting its legislative responsibilities in favor of administrative law created by bureaucrats, for example).

Roger Stone was arrested this morning and I see Bannon's name came up.
It wouldn't surprise me to see him in handcuffs soon.
Trump's kids won't be kept waiting much longer.

Shame Cohen is refusing to testify publicly. When did Trump stop his big idea for his free penthouse for Putin: June or November like Guiliani said? It might still be ongoing, that translator from Helsinki might know.

Seems like a lot of theater. What exactly is the primary "crime" committed by Stone? Seems like it was having information about WikiLeaks being given Hillary's emails.

How is it that CNN was there to record the FBI beating on the door in a pre-dawn raid? Talk about having information. How clear does it have to be that the FBI is working, illegally with the press. I would say with the Democrats too, but there's no need to be redundant.

This sounds like incredibly weak stuff for such a huge investigation, especially considering the obvious pass given to Hillary, while detailing her crimes.

So...an illegal on the no-fly terrorist list is nabbed in '14. Prosecuted (?) in '16. No record of the case, no record of the proceedings, no record of the terrorist?

And the guy who ran a network to bring people from Pakistan, through Brazil and Central America, into the USA illegally...was sniffed out and caught by ICE, extradited to the USA, tried in the USA...and sentenced to 31 MONTHS?

What.

The.

Fk.

No wonder these people storm our border - there is NO PENALTY. These are freakin' TERRORISTS, and the ones we can find record on (!) served less than 3 years. I can assume this guy was not deported after his release, and is still walking among American citizens...

Makes one wonder why Pelosi Galore, Choomer, et al are SO against securing our southern border, so much so that THEY continue to get paid (on our nickel), go on vacations (on our nickel), etc., while millions of patriotic, hard-working, law-abiding American citizens are kept financially "on hold."

What is it about a porous southern border that's SO important to the left?

1. It's "humanitarian" to support those less fortunate, which gets them votes:
1a - votes from current American Democrats
1b - votes from those illegals who are coming here, because those illegals realize who's behind their getting here in the first place

2. It destabilizes the Republic, creating a void which will, in their plans, be filled by socialism. See: Alinsky's rules.

3. 1+2= POWER for them. Not "a better nation", not "good for the populace", not "good for everyone"...but power for them, the self-appointed elite. Schumer. Pelosi. AOC. Soros. 0bama. Clinton. Just for starters...

The hard answer is that the Left is, and has to be dishonest about motive, methods, and results.

They prefer you dead is the hard answer. You are not one of them. In the extreme, the Green utopia will have just a small Elite, and a large number of brown people they use as slaves. Just like the Olde Days on the Southern Democrat Plantation, and just like the old days in the Socialist Soviet Union, and just like the New days in the Social Democracies. ( and that's not working this time for Sweden & Germany )

https://www.popularmechanics.com/flight/airlines/a 26009774/government-shutdown-general-strike

My question is who will get the pressure?

Trump, like Bush, could walk on water and the headlines would read "Trump can't swim".

The question is if any amount of peaceful protest can unseat the Ds from their thrones of lies. And I keep thinking that as long as they own Facebook, the News, and Google... the answer is none.
