This is a tough one.

Truth, statistics, Political correctness, misunderstanding, bull. All here to infuriate and condemn.... And defend.

First, Dr. Watson's comments are, partly, true. But horribly misunderstood and incomplete.

I have no doubt that IQ testing shows differences in genetically different groups, on average and you can plot them on a curve. The controversy surrounding the book The Bell Curve shows this clearly.

Look it up. Better yet, read the book, it should be free out there. ( I read it online for free ) But you have to understand statistics. If the average IQ of a group is lower than another it just means there are more idiots in your sample. It has nothing to do with the smartest members of the group. If, as a study shows, the average is lower for European Caucasians than Ashkenazi Jews, it doesn't mean any individual EC isn't smarter than any AJ. And a bunch of other correlations are bogus too. There's too many wrong notions to cover here.

And it's worth remembering that the AJ population has been the subject of a eugenics program for thousands of years. Customs on marriage and mate selection, and interbreeding, may or may not be the result of ancient elder's wisdom on purpose, but it's had the same effect as "scientific eugenics" or, simply the selective breeding that brings us Pugs.

Arguably, the genetic mixing and Judeo-Christian ethics of 19th & 20th century American culture has had a similar effect, albeit over a shorter time period. I don't recall a study of 'mericans vs. Eurotrash, ; ) ( sarcasm ) but it might show some disparities.

And that "Chinese kids are smarter than white kids" mythology is based on selected samples, you can assume that Chinese who escape China are smarter, or at least more rebellious, than those left behind. ( like Americans and Europeans ) And that the Red Chinese government will lie to you.

And China has been breeding it's people too, but that sex differential result isn't an intelligence matter, it's an unexpected consequences disaster of literally Biblical proportions. ( the male/female ratio )

So we have a famous scientist, blunt and very not PC, making statements that are technically true, easily misunderstood, and the idiocy of the Mob is used to destroy him.

I'm less certain of the motivation of those pointing the Mob at him.

Btw, my good friends that are American & black, are imho, of much higher than average intelligence. But since that's also true of most of my not black friends, I assume it's me. My choices are to surround myself with not stupid people. It helps keep me alive. ( not to fly, or ride with idiots is smart, imho )

Has anyone seen any evidence that "smart" people are buying up inland property >5' above Sea Level? Is anyone putting their money where their models' mouths are? This would be a variation of buying land East of the San Andreas Fault Line...

https://www.fastcompany.com/90293194/the-worlds-fi rst-artificial-meteor-shower-is-set-to-fly-over-ja pan-tonight

If they can get the meteor trails to advertise a new flavor Pocky, then we'll see more of this.

https://www.fastcompany.com/90253947/china-wants-t o-launch-a-fake-moon-in-2020-that-is-definitely-no t-a-death-star

There's a spy thriller where artificial moons destroy the ecosystem by confusing predator prey life cycles. A quick internet search on "artificial moon predator prey system" shows Several studies.

Better, is John Ringo's "Troy Rising" series where humans use thousands of solar mirrors for asteroid mining. And as a weapon.

The Goodreads page on the series is full of hate comments on the author, and one blames the author for the racism displayed by The Aliens, as though it was his own.

This is reminiscent of the deluge of hate Robert A. Heinlein got for Starship Troopers, when they accused the author of fascism because his speculative political system was militarized normal. ( and fatally flawed ) Actually a coming of age in the service novel like 2 Years Before The Mast, or Red Badge Of Courage. Starship Troopers also was the first serious exploration of powered combat armor, and a Giant Bug Aliens story. Yep, even in the 1950s SJWs hated an author for speculating on alternative political systems in a Giant Alien Bug story!

After all, he must WANT the system if he writes about it in a novel about interstellar war.

Cretins.

Dishonest, projecting, cretins.

Heinlein was considered "right wing" as he openly supported Constitutional limited government, & was a veteran. His novels often had cutting commentary on society's flaws and weirdness, and his described utopias used many systems, and all had fatal flaws. Right wing? He didn't think so. Patriot? That, he was.

Ringo is outspoken in his contempt for SJW twisted morality. Catches a Lot of hate for it. Several instances in Ringo novels where aliens attack, and reporters & pundits demand we try and make peace with the misunderstood benevolent aliens, then get eaten. ; )

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Ringo_bibliog raphy

I do caution against his Kildar/Paladin Of Shadows series, which has s&m porn & gets pretty dark. The author said he wrote it to get it out of his system & it wasn't meant to be published...... I think it's 6 books now. But his fans found out and demanded to read it, and it caught on. I really enjoyed the first five, but the sixth is a collaboration and not as good. I can definitely see why it's hated and controversial, most folk won't admit to liking it. Not for everyone.... Or even most.

His other series, especially the Legacy of the Aldenata, Empire of Man, and Looking Glass series are excellent.

and the Special Circumstances novels are unique, a secret anti supernatural threat organization that works with the FBI on cases that have Special Circumstances, ( the FBI beyond top secret classification ) like demon summoning cult murders. As one of the organization warriors tells the FBI agent assigned on a case, "If I tell you to run, run. If I run, run faster. Stay behind me. These thing don't care about bullets, they eat your soul, and I'm tired of losing FBI agents!". And... A surprising protagonist.

Top notch. Highly recommended.

I don't know; the idea of having to earn Citizenship appeals to me. It seemed that non-Citizens had it pretty good, as well in Starship Troopers. Then again, Heinlein was one of my favorite authors during my formative years. Come to think of it, he still is.

I don't disagree. On all points.

I have a first edition of Stranger in a Strange Land, the jacket cover illustration is... ( from Wikipedia ) Auguste Rodin's 1881 sculpture Fallen Caryatid Carrying her Stone (part of his monumental The Gates of Hell work)[7] shows a fallen caryatid. Robert Heinlein described this piece in Stranger in a Strange Land: "Now here we have another emotional symbol... for almost three thousand years or longer, architects have designed buildings with columns shaped as female figures... After all those centuries it took Rodin to see that this was work too heavy for a girl... Here is this poor little caryatid who has tried—and failed, fallen under the load.... She didn't give up, Ben; she's still trying to lift that stone after it has crushed her...

And Door into Summer, the Reason I have a robot vacuum cleaner. 1st edition.

Also several of his later work, but not so brag worthy. Time Enough For Love, Friday, Etc.

I think what "triggered" so many in Starship Troopers is the way the Citizen classification changed from today, to the Novel's. When the troops returned from "the war" and were spat on, and screwed by the system, they revolted, and only changed the rules for citizenship to require Service, voluntary, by Adults, to gain the rights and responsibilities of voting and office.

Since the Novel was written with the full knowledge of the job & housing crisis that hurt veterans especially, after WW1 AND WW2, and was finished after the Korean "police action" where many returning war veterans were told "it didn't count as a war" for VA & benefits..... Heinlein's short & unflinching description with zero details was chilling to the kind of people that...... Well, spit on returning vets.

The further implications that The failure to take Korea seriously, and a waste so many lives for an unsatisfactory stalemate, ( see 2018 news ) was a prime motivation to get rid of the incompetent and/or deliberately treasonous leaders was not lost on folk in 1959, when Troopers was published.

Then we now know, the Soviet sponsored anti war movement was paid for and directed to wreck the West's moral certainty in the face of Socialist Internationalization.

Although the censorship and dumbing down of education meant that just 10-13 years later, when Again, a stalemate was the result of another not-war, War, troops were spat upon, Again could not get jobs, Again were denied treatment at the VA & combat related benefits...... A whole New Wave of paranoia and hatred for The Novel was born. Again, Heinlein was dubbed a Fascist by Lefty anti-American groups.

Sound familiar?

Now with Iraq, & Afghanistan vets not to mention those who saw & are seeing combat in Kosovo, Libya, Syria, Yemen etc. Being neglected to death by the VA, while bureaucrats get bonuses for lying about their goals, while committing 2nd degree Murder? Plus the hatred from the Socialist Internationalization movement, ( sponsored in part by Actual Nazi Soros ) AND the gross, systemic, failure of our Justice system to prosecute even one VA bureaucratic murderer, or a Secretary of State who profited from hundreds of millions in bribes, hid her correspondence in illegal mail server, and committed 30,000 plus felonies of destruction of evidence.....

And you can see why Troopers is even scarier to evil scum than it's ever been.

Crusty,
My comment, fatally flawed, is not overt in the novel, but it's in there.

Heinlein was a Naval Officer ( what we now call Surface Warfare ) before tuberculosis cut his career short. He was well aware of the Submarine Torpedo debacle,of WW2, with it's bureaucratic battles, that cost the lives of hundreds of sailors who were sent out with faulty, untested, weapons that repeatedly failed, as the sailors were blamed for incompetence and even sabotage. Hitting the Japanese destroyer about to ram you with multiple torpedoes that failed to detonate must have been crushing to the morale of the crews, just before they died. Or in a few cases, avoided death to return to Pearl Harbor and he called liars by Naval Brass.

Heinlein was well aware of the flaws in his speculative system.

It's been an interesting few years.

The United Nations Climate folk have flat out stated that science has nothing to do with their mission, which is to eliminate Capitalism and redistribute the wealth created by it.

Take them at their word.

Time to stop bothering to even pretend to believe the Con. The evidence of systematic dishonesty is overwhelming, and thus there is no need to argue about it. Sadly, the science is settled, it was murdered.

It's now simply a struggle between authoritarian liars and Civilization.

The question of motivation, is over, they want your money and to Rule. Period.

The same thing is now true about the desecration of the Constitution by the anti civil rights gun grabbers. The technical aspects are all, 100% lies for the purpose of taking away your rights and your property. Period. When a U.S. Congressman says so, it's over.

There is no longer a reason to argue that a bayonet mount or a Standard capacity magazine is intended by the Founders to be possessed by civilians. All that bull is incremental civil rights violations. Handgun Control, now the Brady scam to exploit a crippled guy, groups, long ago published their strategy. Incremental demonization and destruction of rights until there are no more. Pure Alinsky.

There's no more need to argue with liars, once it's established that the argument is a distraction from the truth. It is Authoritarian liars vs. our Civilization.

It's stupid to pretend otherwise.

It's a Jordan morning. : )

There's previous mention here in IQ & race. I state the problem is people don't understand statistics.

I'm sticking with that argument. I wish that I was better at explaining the false impression folk get from numbers. My formal training is industrial process control. You don't argue with castings. Sheet metal has no ego. Machinists do. In some cases I have used the "pro from Dover" technique to get machinists to follow the new system I ( and the government/ISO/customer ) demand. ( pro from Dover is a MASH/golf reference ) I think the technical term is appeal to irrelevant authority. Instead of explaining, just believe me,I'm an expert! Works for some, some pretend it works, ( less effort ) & not at all for others. They wanna know Why!

Fortunately that type tend to be easy to explain to, or if they're dumb, easy to get authoritarian supervisors to force compliance. ( and then you watch them like a hawk )

I spent most of my time trying to make the new system less work than the old one, not statistical analysis. THAT was the Easy part.

Applying statistics to people, however, is complicated. You can't control the variables, and often can't define them.

But golly gee, the bell curves are just as predictable. Unfortunately most folk don't understand them.
