Right now it's wearing the standard Hogue grips such as this:

A friend gave me a 10 rd magazine for my 1911A1 and I thought it was pretty cool.
Until I tried it. Never fed right, tossed it.

7rds are plenty when I have several...

I didn't worry about making my .22 pretty. Just got one I can hide easy. Those red and black grips look good. I have a Rossi snub nose in .357 . Finally replaced the grips with new OEM. Until then I kept thinking about hand molding a set out of pig putty in grey.

It's going to be a tool for plinking and less expensive DAO trigger training.

The 1911 mags I've had best luck with are the Wilson 8rd. I've had some MecGar mags that are decent, but the springs would wear out prematurely and the follower blew out of one. They all have Wilson guts now.

I had good luck with WILSON COMBAT 1911 .45 ACP 10 Round SS magazines. Now I use a P227 with double stack 10 round mags. I tried the 13 round magazines. They work if you keep the magazines unloaded till you are ready to shoot. Probably why the Indiana State Police aren't allowed to carry the 13 rounders. I traded my 13s for 10s and never looked back.

Oh ya, here's my most used .22:

Simply, leftists lie. They even admit they want to take away all guns, and England shows they won't stop there.

They will never stop lying, they will never stop trying to disarm citizens, (while demanding illegal immigrants be allowed to murder in sanctuary cities ) never stop trying to steal your property, never stop trying to shut you up.

Resist, revolt, use Truth to fight lies.

The very notion that 400,000,000 firearms could be taken from 150,000,000 people is rather absurd. The notion that your children could be asked to inform on their parents political views and if they have guns is too.

Or the notion that a law abiding hard working people would tolerate entire ethnic groups to be loaded into cattle cars and taken away, that was unthinkable.

Yet this isn't ancient history I'm talking about, the long ago 1940's. How about the 1970's & 1980's in Cambodia, or the 2000's in Burma, or yesterday & tomorrow in Syria & Egypt. True, the cattle cars aren't used in places they don't have train tracks everywhere, and the techniques are a bit more haphazard, ( the Germans are a Most Organized People ) just burn the Church, attack any women you see on the street, and chase the families out of town to die. Or find shelter, which is rare.

It's going to happen soon in Sweden and Germany, and already there are areas in France, Sweden, and other countries that the police dare not go, lest they burn in their police cars. Or have grenades tossed in the police station.

But, yes, I get your point. If on Friday, the NY State police started kicking down doors to arrest the millions of felons in NY that failed to register their scary word items, and the internet was still working, there would indeed be a backlash. A few nuts might even go to Albany and clash with the Palace Guard. Martial law would be declared. The Thruway would have checkpoints. There might even be a few Congressmen that objected, not that ABC would report it, except to mark them for vengeance for the Mobs.

No, it won't happen next friday.

That's why they'd rather attack our rights in increments via propaganda and the long term agenda of generational ignorance.

That's been a winning strategy, up to now, but some are ready to push the issue real soon. With Google & Facebook & Twitter, plus the Deep State, I'd guess the initial stages of the End of Liberty would be to publish the names and addresses of all gun owners on record, or anyone who mentioned being for the second amendment & the rule of law. Your picture, your children's pictures, where you work & where they go to school, demands that you be fired for the Safety of The Community, and they be cast out of school as potential threats. Steal identities en-mass and destroy our credit, steal our bank accounts. And of course, the denials when a mob beats a few radical right wing folk... in spontaneous counter demonstrations. ( no need to even have a protest to counter protest, isn't your presence among them enough? )

Actual police door kicking can happen later, after people are conditioned to Hating others on cue. Lawn signs, burning crosses, "Climate Change Denier" & "Horder" & "Doesn't care if your child dies!"

Next year? How long did it take before the papers stopped condemning Brown shirts beating Union organizers ( mobs chasing folk with MAGA hats out of restaurants ) and the Final Solution? The analogy with the Brown shirts is poor, that was a 7 year process of revolution to get Hitler in power, then a year to be, in turn, crushed by the SS. The US isn't going to have such a revolution, we already elected a Communist Party endorsed President for 2 terms, and How the Trump deranged expect to take over after an impeachment is... fuzzy. What excuse to take down Pence? He's Christian? So it's most likely that 2020 is the earliest the next Socialist Worker's Party type can get elected, ( since the Republican Establishment will try and run Jeb against the as yet unknown ) and at least until summer of 2021 that Mobs will burn your house down....

If it wasn't for Google and Facebook. The power to control stupid people is enormous, and to hurt good people, obscene. I can come up with a few scenarios that involve assassinations, martial law, and information control, that could kick in as soon as 2020.

It all depends on the midterm elections this year. If the Dems don't take power, it could get ugly as soon as next year.

Vote early, Vote often. ( I can say that as a registered Democrat who voted in the recent primary. I just had to vote against Cuomo, even if it was for an actress. )

I freely admit the above is a pessimistic take on the timeline. The ultimate goal is no longer a question. Serving Democrat politicians have openly stated they want no civilians to own fire arms. Only the police, the military, and the private armies of the rich will be allowed to have them.

I had a preview in this logic years ago when I asked for, and was mailed, Handgun Control 's brochure on how they planned to achieve disarmed America. You know them now as the Brady campaign to exploit a crippled guy, or something like that. There is a book, available used on Amazon sometimes, Handgun Control Inc. that has the brochure inside, and is about the company now exploiting James Brady and his wife.

Essentially, the Strategy, is to give a class of objects, a scary name, and get that class banned.

Today, it's still "assault weapons" a phrase that Wikipedia formerly had accurately described, including the anti rights guy who coined it. That truth has been erased. Go ahead, look.

I recall the other planned classes of scary names, "sniper rifle" ( anything with a scope) was planned to be used after the Clinton Assault Weapons Ban, but the popularity of U.S. Snipers in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, had them delay that until later.

"Sawed off Shotgun" was any shotgun. Add one saw, voila!

"Assassination weapon" is any .22 rimfire, imagined as the choice of the assassin.

"Too easily concealed" .... Duh, you can hide it under a trench coat.

There were a few others, and the intelligent among you will point out the illogic, flaws in reasoning, and outright lies, but "at this point, what difference does it make?" Lies are the basis of leftism, of stealing power, of the Alinsky cult, the core value of anti rights people.

So, it's just a question of timing, and the timing is dependent on the beliefs of the feasibility of success, by people who are powerful, rich, evil, and lie to everyone, including themselves.

You take a guess, based on that factual, real life, waking nightmare.

I still remember when handguns were the object of the Democratic ban hammer. The news was inundated with stories of "handgun violence" and images of Mac10's and Tec9's among gang members was all of a sudden a concern. Every small affordable gun was a "Saturday night special" and it was suggested, and in fact pursued, that manufacturers be held liable for any criminal misuse of their products.

It was amusing to watch Hillary publicly announce her intention to effectively cancel the 2nd Amendment while her supporters ardently proclaimed her to be pro-gun...as in...the 2nd Amendment was about reasonable restrictions, I.E., hunting with muskets...and the people with a need for guns...the military, some police, and the bodyguards of the social and political elite...would still have them.

It's always crazy town when it comes to "liberals."

Addendum to my post of 2:18 today on the Hillary Clinton thread, re: heat stroke/exhaustion.

Fencing gear, Olympic stuff, is multi layer cloth to protect the fencer from broken blades. The face is covered in steel mesh, that limits visibility and breathing, but acceptable limits. Everywhere else is either covered in multiple layers of cloth, or leather. ( shoes and gloves )

The danger is that foils, epees, etc. get abused and bent in fencing. Eventually, the steel cracks, and will break, often leaving a jagged, sharp point. In the heat of a fight, that may go unnoticed, and someone can be run through. The worst case I personally know about was an arm injury where a broken blade went several (+6" ) inches up a fore arm. People have been killed. Hence, the restrictive gear and strict safety standards.

The SCA, that I play in, calls for Olympic spec masks, equivalent clothing, and additional protection for the back of the head. ( melee combat is more chaotic than Olympic fighting, more angles. )

My sister, who has fenced for years, now uses a stainless steel fine "mesh" mail shirt. Welded, small ring, European style 5 in 1 "chain mail" ( just mail, actually, the chain is redundant ) from neck to knees. This lets her wear a much more breathable linen tunic underneath, and has improved her endurance and comfort. Yes, it does allow more spectacular bruising, than an Olympic "ghost jacket" ( the world standard, & what I own ) but she loves the heat rejection ability of her new rig. Weight is a bit more.

And it's gorgeous.

This summer, she discovered the trick of putting the mail shirt in her cooler, which she wheels out to the list with cold beverages, and drops it on, chilled, before a match.

Try that with class II+ body armor. ; )

Sometimes the o!d way works better than modern technology.

An old "myth" revisited. "Brush Guns"

The Box O Truth guys addressed this years ago.

https://www.theboxotruth.com/the-box-o-truth-40-de flected-bullets-and-the-box-o-truth/

Some confirmation, and a hint it's not that big a deal, the differences...

Now, I'm a firm believer that hunting deer with a smaller bullet, .25" and under, is an expert's game. The .243 has for 60+ years been the choice for wives, sons, daughters, based on the truth that lower recoil, ( than , say, a 30-06 ) aids in marksmanship, and psychological comfort. I also think that for ethical hunting, you are obliged to put in the time and money for ammo to get accurate and comfortable with any gun, but More for a small bullet than a bigger one. A bad shot is a bad shot, and they happen, but you have a better chance of tracking a wounded animal with a bigger hole.... and the ethics of never wanting to leave a wounded animal to die horribly is important, IMHO.

Not to say don't hand a .243 to a smaller person to hunt with, just put in the effort to help make them good enough to have a good, humane, hunt.

I do love the line. "A .30 cal, yeah, it expands, but a .58 baby, it doesn't shrink"

Even though I don't hunt in Missouri anymore I still have my old BRUSH gun. It's an old 44 magnum Marlin lever action. Ofcourse I had to compliment it with a Ruger Redhawk. Back in the 80's I was a huge fan of the 44 mag but it was because of Elmer Keith not Dirty Harry.

I think the .44 magnum is about the limit & most capable big bore cartridge.

More power can be had, and at what cost? Recoil tolerance is individual.

The .44 is comfortable enough for me to have fun with a box of ammo, but over my limit for a 100 round match. Fine for hunting.

Capability is time proven. Effective on all land animals, although the "big (arbitrary #)" African hippo, rhino, elephant , ???

What other critters deserves inclusion in the "Big#" list?

Anyhoo, I arbitrarily decree that if the minimum cartridge recommended ( required in many African countries ) is a .375 H&H Magnum, that it's risky with a .44. Been done, but high risk of losing a wounded animal or being eaten. Ymmv.

Big Brown bear & Nilgai in the U.S. have been hunted with a .44, although heavy cast full power loads are called for.

Other than cthulu, I think you're covered. Top notch self defense found, too. Excellent range of loads, from Cowboy Action mild plinking, serious two legged defensive & hunting, hammer hitting heavy cast.

The cult classic .41 Magnum is darn near as good, but you have far better availability with the .44 magnum.

If the purpose is recreation target shooting with a high you d count, personally, I'd prefer .45 Colt, or .357/.38 or .45ACP, 9mm, or .22LR. ( or 9mm Tokarev, .22wmr, 7.63 Mauser..........)

Asian buffalo. The males fight over dominance with inside sharp curved horns, and the criss crossing scar tissue on the chest is like natural kevlar. Many guides recommend heavier than 30-06 guns to get adequate penetration for a front shot.

Yeah, it's a big cow.... But an alert and hard to sneak up on cow. Supposed to be a tough hunt like mountain sheep ( also alert ) but in flat to rolling thorn bush lands, not vertical mountain. Good thing too, you need a truck to haul out the beef.

Hog is the up and coming nuisance critter as domestic pig escapes and native boar have given us large, bacon wrapped mean on the razor sharp hoof. You can use boar spear in some places. Good luck & you have made out a detailed, recent will, right?

But the deer population explosion is the primary American hunting harvest.

Well my only use was for deer hunting. Missouri white tail. Where we hunted was hilly and most shots were 100 yards or less and it was heavily wooded. Now when I went to New Mexico, to hunt elk, I had a 300 Win Mag so I would be like Ma Bell and "reach out and touch someone!"

I hand loaded the 44 with 25 grains of IMR 4227. It was a compression load that was good for 1700 fps out of the rifle with a 240 grain JHP if memory serves. It was very accurate as well, even out of the Redhawk. Definitely fun guns!

I don't shoot very often anymore. Too many retirement projects at the moment but once my reloading room is rebuilt I'm going to have to start playing again.

I have wanted to go hog hunting for a long time. I have a pistol for it. Last winter I lost the scope for it. I was shooting at the range. Making sure I could use it at 50 yards before moving out to 100. I go to take another shot and can't see through the scope. I had shattered the glass inside it. I should pick up another 2x20 for it. I am OK with the iron sights.
